Wenger might think he has kept the pressure and expectations down on him due to no big signings this summer but I now think it has the opposite effect.
People will stick the knives out as soon as anything goes downhill. There won't be a “new signing X has to settle“ or any other leeway for him.
I remember him accusing Jose of having a fear of failure (that prompted the infamous "specialist in failure" retort). Tbh, it's Arsène that has the real fear of failure. He never does enough so that he always has an excuse ready for his multitude of failures, be it the world cup hangover (funny how it only effected us), stadium debt, injuries (our own failure), nervousness, handbrakes or any other bullshit he comes out with. It's never his fault.
I liked how Tony Pulis came out after the opening game versus City and put his hands up saying he got the formation wrong, shouldn't have gone 442, should've packed the midfield. He took responsibility.
Noone at AFC ever takes any ****ing responsibility.
