Wenger might think he has kept the pressure and expectations down on him due to no big signings this summer but I now think it has the opposite effect.
People will stick the knives out as soon as anything goes downhill. There won't be a “new signing X has to settle“ or any other leeway for him.

I remember him accusing Jose of having a fear of failure (that prompted the infamous "specialist in failure" retort). Tbh, it's Arsène that has the real fear of failure. He never does enough so that he always has an excuse ready for his multitude of failures, be it the world cup hangover (funny how it only effected us), stadium debt, injuries (our own failure), nervousness, handbrakes or any other bullshit he comes out with. It's never his fault.

I liked how Tony Pulis came out after the opening game versus City and put his hands up saying he got the formation wrong, shouldn't have gone 442, should've packed the midfield. He took responsibility.

Noone at AFC ever takes any ****ing responsibility.

ABSOLUTELY ****ING LIVID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even if you think Giroud is good enough (he's not) to not sign a second striker is DISGRACEFUL. Giroud needs help regardless of whether he starts.

EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF THE CLUB 'S MANAGEMENT DESERVES A DOUBLE ULTIMATE NIPPLE CRIPPLE.

1st season i feel like we have absolutely zero excuse if we don't win the title. If we have made our usual business and failed, well then we could still have bring the fact that it's hard to compete with much richer clubs.

But when you talk about winning the league and when after that you take the deliberate decision to not strenghen the team because you think it's already exceptionnal, man then you really have to prove your point. That's really putting extreme pressure on himself and on the players.

We don't have to worry right now but give it one more year like the last and getting the likes of Özil/Alexis to renew won't be easy.

I suspect Wenger wants to win something before his contract is up so he can go out on a high and signing a project like Martial won't make that happen in this season or the next so he was aiming for a Benzema or Cavani who can work NOW....it hasn't happened and that is that.

Not getting backup to Coquelin is probably down to the fact we didnt offload Flamini, we aren't a club who buys first and worries about selling later - frustrating as that may be.

Nothing left to do now but get behind the team and see what January brings - They absolutely must have their targets and I don't buy for one second that we just didn't bother to get someone in.

- A fan protest will achieve nothing. They did this a few years back.
- The board will not sack Wenger. They clearly support his policies.

We can complain all we want, but it will achieve nothing. The sad fact is that we just have to settle with what we've got and pray to god/allah/budha/satan?

Wenger's not afraid of failure bro-he's the one who's stood firm in the face of criticism when all & sundry told him his team wasn't good enough to get into the top 4, which he did every year. Many doubted he'd ever win anything again. You really think he's afraid to fail and that's why he won't spend the money? Then you don't understand the dude after all these years. Seriously dude, check yuhself.

Not sure how you could say no one at AFC ever takes responsibility-they're taking responsibility for the philosophy by which they run their club all the time & continue to stand by it. The easy thing would be to sell their shares for 100M $$ to Usmanov and sit back and smoke their cigars in the elite boxes.

They've all said-this is the way we are running our club & this is how we are going to go about certain things & they don;t budge because they believe in what they are doing. That's responsibility and balls imo.

In case anyone is hoping for an Arsenal extension. The beIN Sports correspondent said that they've been told early in the day that there will not be any further purchases this window.

Had my dinner, watched Neighbours, now trying to find the positive here. The only positive I have, is that every time I struggle for motivation in my own life, I think of the times that Wenger or the team has bottled it and think, I don't want to be like that.

Sorry but that's bullsh*te.

We have to be competing for the league regardless. But even if we win the league that in no way exonerates Wenger for not strengthening. You don't get points for not signing players, it's not a game of 'let's see who can do it with the least amount of money'.

Both teams that won the league in the past 2 years strengthened substantially. We finished behind both of them. Significantly.

Even Barcelona who won the double and have a freaking transfer ban signed more players than us.

Obviously we will be happy if we win and Wenger will smugly do an "I told you so" but it's really irrelevant. Regardless, this was poor poor management and someone needs to be fired for this. It's that bad.

Arsenal Quotes

The coach's role is to make the player understand everything that serves the interest of the game. To do this he must speak to the child within each player, to the adolescent he was and the adult he is now. Too often a coach tends only to speak to the adult, issuing commands for performance, for victory, for reflection, to the detriment of the child who is playing for pleasure, living in the present.
