Murton 0 : Bishop Auckland 2

21 October,2003

Team: Rowe, Batey, Crossman, Scaife, West, Hope, Moore (Taylor Marc 86mins), Brabbs (Smith 84mins), Manson, Ross, Irvine (Shingleton 79mins)

A makeshift Bishops side with captain Brian Rowe in goal made it through to the second round of the Durham Challenge Cup after an early scare.

Rowe produced a penalty save on 11 minutes to keep the tie level and the rebound was blasted against the bar. Moore came close to opening the scoring for Bishops but was pulled down from behind when on goal. The referee thought otherwise, and booked Irvine for protesting.

Bishops had failed to create any clear chances in the early exchanges, but took the lead on 36 minutes when Moore cut in from the right and beat three Murton defenders before firing in a shot. The rebound fell kindly to Manson who tapped the ball home from 8 yards.

Manson struck again in the first minute of the second half when he controlled an Irvine through-ball and slotted the ball home. Bishops dominated the remainder of the half, but failed to add to their total, while Brian Rowe struggled to keep himself warm on this freezing October night.

i know its old but it might be good

Arsenal Quotes

Arsenal have always been the club of the people, the streets. Arsenal was one of the first clubs to really have black players, so it did represent the mass of the UK and how London is. I hope people at the club know that and who are they playing for.
