Kamel Ghilas

Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger is preparing a summer swoop for Algerian international midfielder Kamel Fhati Ghilas.

Gunners' spies have been tracking the 24-year-old for several months and Wenger has received enthusiastic reports.

Since Eduardo broke his leg at Birmingham in February, Arsenal have seen their title chances evaporate. They have won just one of their last seven Premier League games and have also been dumped out of the UEFA Champions League.

The striker's absence from a small squad has highlighted limitations at the Emirates Stadium and the Gunners' boss has been widely criticised for not spending to strengthen the side.

Now Wenger has set his sights on French-born 24-year-old Ghilas. The former Cannes player has been impressing with Portuguese top division club Vitoria Guimaraes this season.

He can play in central midfield, on the left side of midfield or as a forward.

Same guy, weird write-up:
Kamel Ghilas to Arsenal
Arsène Wenger’s team of dehydrated football forragers have once again resurfaced in their mining helmets with soil on their faces muttering like crazy people about an Algerian man called Kamel. At the moment he plays casual football for Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes, but next season he looks set to be entertaining Arsenal crowds, who love sexual football and Cesc Fabregas.

Well apparently he's a "versatile" midfield player who can play on the left and centre and can even play up front if needed.

Very little clips off him out there, there are a few on dailymotion but they mainly show him scoring a few goals, don't give much insight as to what type of player he is.

You could just imagine something like that couldn't you. Imagine this summer Man utd sign Benzema, Chelsea sign Ronaldinho, Liverpool sign David Villa, Sp**s sign Modric and Arsenal sign Milligan

Am a regular watcher of Portuguese Liga, Ghilas normally plays behind the striker (ala Kaka for Milan) although he love to drift on the flank, not the biggest player but could handle the physical aspect very well. Neat and tidy player, with a very good technical skill (dribbling etc.), you need those to play in Portugal.

Score 6 goals this season, some from long range, and a number of assists as well, However, there's a question mark over his fitness, rarely finish a game before, normally subbed off10-30 minutes before the full time.

His club Vitória are now third, but you can clearly see the quality gap between them and Porto. Quaresma just beat the crap outta them last week.

So no point ever playing him and Rosicky in the same team then...

Arsenal Quotes

One of the things I discovered in Japan was from watching sumo wrestling. At the end you can never tell who has won the fight, and who has lost, because they do not show their emotion because it could embarrass the loser. It is unbelievable. That is why I try to teach my team politeness. It is only here in England that everybody pokes their tongue out when they win.
