FA: Brighton vs Arsenal - 26/01/13 |15:00 | Player

I dont want to go out, but surely some rotation would be sensible now? Can Rosicky and Diaby or maybe even Frimpong get a run out while Jack and Santi rest. If it doesnt work then bring them on 2nd half.

Also ... Jenkinson deserves a start!

Didn't see a fred so thought I'd make one for once. Important one this. Heading down there on Saturday so should be a good one.

Don't usually bother with pre-teamsheets when it comes to the Arsenal. That said though, I'd like to see Ramsey get another start after yesterdays performance.

Nails will be bit.

We will destroy them.

Brighton are a decent side and Mckail-Smith seems a handful. This is a game where we need to play well, otherwise we'll get dumped on again. Can see us losing this, Brighton 2-0 Arsenal.

Airknight (Forum Member) on January 24th, 2013, 8:50 pm

Away game at FA Cup -> Draw.

We'll play poor and draw 0-0 so we can gain profit with a replay at the Emirates.

alboots101 (Forum Member) on January 24th, 2013, 8:56 pm

I beg to differ rich1990.

0-3.....no more cockups.

yousif_arsenal (Forum Member) on January 24th, 2013, 9:27 pm

Chesney

Jenkinson Kosh Miquel Santos

Diaby Coqulien

AOC Ramsey Arshavin

Giroud

this line up should be enough to beat Brighton. if Rosicky fit i will start him over diaby, diaby can take extra rest.

musicmonkey (Forum Member) on January 24th, 2013, 9:43 pm

I'd love to see Eisfeld make the bench but Wenger doesn't seem to want to put many of the unproven youngsters in the cup sides any more.

DiamondGooner (Forum Member) on January 24th, 2013, 9:50 pm

If we don't destroy them or at least win .... Wenger out!

I'm laughing and being serious all at the same time.

alboots101 (Forum Member) on January 24th, 2013, 9:57 pm

Cant say that I'm a Wenger out Gooner.........................................yet.

US_Gooner (Forum Member) on January 24th, 2013, 10:22 pm

Although this squad is capable of screwing this up, I believe Arsenal will prevail.

MDGoonah41 (Forum Member) on January 24th, 2013, 10:25 pm

i hope we win

Wouterus (Forum Member) on January 24th, 2013, 10:28 pm

We should rest a a couple of players, but not all of them. Preferred lineup:
Szczesny, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Santos, Diaby, Coquelin, Ramsey, Chamberlain, Giroud, Podolski.

Put Walcott on the bench in case we get in trouble. Hopefully Rosicky can get involved as well.

THunter (Forum Member) on January 24th, 2013, 10:45 pm

I want Jack rested, but he just adds so much to our team. I'd be happy if Eisfeld starts though, hopefully he's at least on the bench rather that Arshavin.

Big PL game v Liverpool next Wednesday, I would prefer Jack, Santi, Sagna, and Theo on the bench. Have Arteta if ready or Coquelin along with Ramsey and Abou with front three of Poldi-Oli-Ox.

Let's not get complacent and give some respect to the lower league clubs, remember Bradford :)

Jenkinson - Mert - Kos - Gibbs
Diaby --- Ramsey --- Rosicky
Walcott --- Giroud --- Podolski

can anyone say replay?

mo50 (Elite Member) on January 24th, 2013, 11:15 pm

By all accounts these guys can't defend. They are a good attacking team with good passing ability but depending on the team we put out I reckon we'll trash them.

Rest 3-4 players. Vermaelen is out so Kos back in, give Jenkinson a run out, play Diaby and Ramsey in midfield and Chamberlain starting wide. One of Wilshere/Cazorla must be rested, preferably both.

I'm looking forward to this. The FA cup is a positive distraction for me, our only genuine shot at winning a trophy.

Brighton are abit like what we used to be , dominate, create chances but not clinical enough. A good team who'll get themselves up for us bigtime, we'll have to play well to get anything out of this game.

In for a nasty surprise if people are expecting an easy game or thrashings, il actually say Brighton are favorites if we rest key players.

I'd like to think there are very few Gooners who think we can easily beat anyone nowadays.

Warship (Forum Member) on January 25th, 2013, 12:25 am

Some rotation definitely seems needed, but I trust the boss to put a strong enough XI out so as not to seem we're taking them lightly.. Brighton will be tough at home.

Jenkinson in is a given, as well as Koscielny. I'd prefer not to see Santos or Squillaci though..

The midfield selection should be the most interesting - If Diaby is recovered from his illness then he'll be there; same for Coquelin if he's recovered.

Szc, Jenkinson, Kos, Merte, Gibbs, Coquelin, Diaby, Ramsey, Ox, Giroud, Podolski is my preferred team for this one - keep the other big guns on the bench and hope AW doesn't hesitate to make substitutions sooner rather than later if we're struggling.

Bossa (Forum Member) on January 25th, 2013, 1:50 am

Szczesny
Jenkinson Mertesacker Koscielny Santos
Ramsey Coquelin Diaby
Walcott Giroud Chamberlain

I think that Wilshere, Cazorla, Podolski, Sagna and Gibbs could use a rest. They have almost played every minute this month.

US_Gooner (Forum Member) on January 25th, 2013, 2:07 am

Wenger had better rest Jack and Cazorla. Jack because Wenger almost ruined his career playing him too much, too early, and Cazorla because he is clearly knackered.

Starting Diaby would be a mistake. Wenger sees the role Diaby fills on the field and so will keep him in 90+ minutes no matter what.

Verms and Gibbs are likely carrying knocks from last nights' game, so they're done.

Is Rosicky healthy yet?

leo_ense (Lobby Member) on January 25th, 2013, 2:12 am

Rest and rotation is key for a few players here.

Just hope the likes of Rosicky are fit and available for this game so we can rest Cazorla and Wilshere.

no santos please and Wenger took off early podolski and Giroud so these two will start
Walcott played the full game so he might be rested with OX coming in and isn't Coquelin still injured?

--------------- Szczesny
Jenkinson - Mertesacker - Koscielny - Gibbs
Ramsey ---------- Rosicky ----------- Diaby
OX -------------- Giroud --------- Podolski

If Gibbs has to be rested then Meade, Miquel, Angha are better players than Santos
Coquelin if fit should play before Rosicky

oh to be a goon (Forum Member) on January 25th, 2013, 3:29 am

What I would like to see:
Szczesny
Jenkinson Mertesacker Koscielny Gibbs

Coquelin Ramsey
Eisfeld Diaby Gnabry

Podolski

A more realistic lineup that I would like to see (though again not going to happen):

Szczesny
Jenkinson Mertesacker Koscielny Gibbs

Coquelin Ramsey
Ox Eisfeld Rosicky

Podolski

I would play Rosicky and Arteta if they are fit enough. Cazorla, Wilshere and Gibbs could use a break. I have a feeling that they are on a the verge of a breakdown.

I dont think thats realistic that we will see Eisfeld or Gnabry start. They seem light years away from the first team.

Brett (Forum Member) on January 25th, 2013, 5:53 am

where is rosicky? it is really sickening all season he has played only 45 minutes of football..........i am one of his fanboys but giving him a new contract knowing his injury record is outright ridiculous. he was not even on the bench as usual....... Wenger conveniently avoids telling us that he is injured.....

Sydney Gooner (Banned) on January 25th, 2013, 7:00 am

Isn't Arteta back for this one?
