Jeez we were poor, so poor, we can't really be letting Everton have so many chances at our goal without creating much at the other end.

That said, it's not exactly a shock, I think a lot of people were worried about our away form and you know...there's a reason we're fighting for top four and not the premiership. However some of the performances today were astonishing, so so bad, but again another sign of where we are.

So to that extent I'm not too mad.

We've got to pick ourselves up for a big game on Thursday.
You have to be decent away from home too if we fighting for top 4 too not picking at least 9 points from our last 4 away games mean europa league next season again

Haven't seen us so outmatched physically in a little while. That was intriguing to see from a purely objective view.

From a personal perspective, it was awful. Could argue its our poorest game over 90 mins. At no point did we look threatening or solid. Complete nothing performance from most of the team. Probably only Leno and that's because he did everything he was supposed to do. Kola and AMN garbage, CBs garbage. Elneny ineffective. Guendouzi ineffective. Mhkitaryan back on his bullshit. Özil ineffective. Laca......well, he tried. Ineffective. Iwobi was encouraging but ultimately ineffective. Ramsey and Auba - ineffective.

Terrible all round.

That's an interesting observation. We've played against much stronger physical sides than Everton this season and have played better. And there's no question of fatigue either, there was a 6 day breather before this. Any specific reason why we were so meek on the pitch today?

I look at the line-up. Elneny has never been a good duel winner. The back 3 did not have the tools to deal with Calvert-lewin or Richarlison so we needed the midfield to set pace. Guendouzi getting the early card was curtains for him. Now we had 2 midfielders half assing duels. Mhki had one of his customary off days and Özil went back to being ineffective in the heat of the battle. Which left us with Lacazette doing all the hustling and battling on his own. And he wasn't good either. Emery's hands were tied in some respects but dropping Ramsey was a move that didn't pay off. Both the wing backs were off the pace too. They took it way easy.

El neny, mustafi, Monreal, kos, ANM, Mkhitaryan, özil, need replacing asap if we want to compete. They are just not consistent or good enough.

Sh*t game, really weird actually that no one looked like they fancied it.

More worried about Xhaka's and Kos's injuries. We need them for the run in.

Complete bottle job. All we're good for is putting the pressure on - and we don't even do that half the time. Probably another 6th placed finish and mickey mouse Scandiavian Euro League next season where we'll the semi final and get demolished by the first decent side we're drawn against.

Sp**s fan on here trolling .check out his other two posts if in doubt.

The run in but not next season. This is it for most of these guys IMO. I know we all love them but if we are to progress then hard decisions must be made.

Look at where we are and what we are. Does anyone think that this side with 2-3 additions can win the league? Something also needs to change about the way this team sets up tactically. I don't know if it is old bad habits or what, but truthfully how many good performances have we seen from this lot?

I find people conflate winning a game with dominating it or putting in an amazing performance. Yes, football ebbs and flows and every team will have chances but we give up too many chances and create too many dangerous situations. Even if it doesn't lead to a shot on goal for the opposition, watch us play and you will see that far too often the opposition cuts us open. Everton, for example, created a lot from midfield and we had to be bailed out by a defender or by Everton putting the ball out of play.

If it is Barcelona and we got our backs to the wall and come out with a 2-1 win, fine great. But we don't play them every week. When was the last time we just shut a top team down and made their midfield and forward line invisible?

That Man Utd win is an example of exactly what the problem I have with this team. We won 2-0, but United also hit the post twice and created some decent chances where they could have scored. I feel like we win all of our games by rope-a-dope or a struggle between two heavyweight boxers.

We also have awful in game management and let the opposition dictate the pace. During our Chelsea win at home, Chelsea were getting hot going for an equalizer. We get a throw-in in our own half and what do our boys do? Rush over to take it as quickly as possible. I was annoyed. We were winning and a fast restart only benefitted Chelsea in that situation. Take your time and frustrate them.

Until we relearn how to control games and just shut the opposition down, then we will have games like today.

Awful performance, one of those games where you have no argument at all about the result. We picked it up in the 2nd half but still too many players having a bad day. AMN was dreadful, Mustafi and Elneny were as expected and Auba did little when he came on. No clue why we were so bad, hopefully Emery knows because we have 4 more away games and need points from them.

Just saw the goal. It was a foul throw in. So obvious he stepped over too.

Gueye was a monster. One of the best defensive midfielder in the league and has been ultra consistent. I would spend top dollar on him.

On the game, I thought we sorely missed Xhaka's ability to play passes between the opposition defenders and midfield.

Feels like we over played at times. And also were very slow in counter attacks.

Particularly pissed off at Laca on one counter too where he dribbled too much when he could have passed to 2 or 3 players in a better position. Ended up losing the ball.

Horrible performance all round in the end. Seems like we're proving the bloody pundits right (when they said we wouldn't make top 4 due to having too many away games.

I agree on everything, but upgrade Elneny to absolute garbage.

It is a regular occurrence in away games that the flaws in this current squad are highlighted. We have offensive players who are incapable of receiving the ball with a man up their arse under physical pressure. We have defenders who take an age to decide what to do, who lack the ability to drive with the ball or pass through the lines and we have midfielders who have no pace or dynamism meaning we can't compete in midfield.

At home we have the ball and teams don't press us as consistently so we are able to play our game. However away from home we see what this team needs in the long term.

We need a more physically dominant centre forward who can run in behind and link up play. We need more technical midfielders who have pace and power. We need more pace at centre back with better passing. We need more speed at full back.

This summer we could potentially get a lb, cb, rb, cm and a winger, but they have to be of the right physical profile. Forget people like Barella and Fornals. They lack pace, Nkunku makes more sense. Forget centre backs like Deligt, Konate makes more sense. Id seriously look at Joelinton or Marcus Thuram for a Welbeck replacement.

This. But people don't bang on enough about our utter dearth of technical quality.

It's the most important thing at the top level. And yes, we do need a new, genuinely elite striker.
