You cant really play him in this type of game, because he is also a target for the turnover.

The equaliser for Fulham came from Saka losing the ball in a 1v1. That was Fulham's MO today, be physical and attack space.
I checked his stats, other than Sp**s mistake, and Newcastle, our matches with him as pivot were pretty stable

Not about that but simply if we face Inter Bayern or Real Madrid they knocking us out without issue because more experience players more experience managers our supporters need to handle expectations better

Oh for sure. They have something called goal scorers too. That helps.

Trust me Porto is sending this sorry ass home. No need for Bayern or Madrid.

Since when was Xhaka a ball progresser? Did I miss something? Why does AM make out like he was a Xavi, Pirlo, Alonso type with his passing?

The only thing we miss with Xhaka is a bit of experience and some leadership. Oh and the odd long distance strike.
No one is saying this, straw man...but he was efficient at keeping the ball moving and moving it with accuracy and pace. He lacked top end vision and hollywood ball pin point accuracy, but only Ode and Zinny can move the ball as well as him out of our current team

And to Jorgi's credit he played at Newcastle as well, and done well.

Still think he would have been a target in this game though. Look how they bullied Ødegaard for example, guy couldnt combine properly in midfield.

That was their strategy. Try and kick the **** out of us and use those turnovers to attack us.

yeah right, no proof of it.
No, just the evidence that most of the goals we've conceded the last few weeks have come from his side being targeted. Just that proof.

Think the winter break comes at a perfect time for us tbh. Players need a hard mental reset.

If things not improve offensively yes I expect us we get knocked out but that in tow months I hope things improve

I agree there were a lot of niggly fouls - and a good number of knees in the back etc. that weren’t called at all. Whereas every 50/50 by us went their way. But that’s not an excuse, we have to be prepared for that and showed zero variation to our game today.

We have nullified ourselves more than anything, it's not like West Ham and Fulham have done much last ditch defending to beat us...they have both been fairly comfortable.

We just can't genuinely attack anymore it seems, madness
This. Nobody is doing this to us, we're doing it to ourselves. Basically every goal we've conceded has come from sloppiness or stupidity and we're bottling every chance we create. This is a lunatic's micromanaging burning a group of weak minded players out.

Yeah fully agreed.

Fulham made the physicality a part of their strategy today. Their equaliser was a borderline foul on Saka, and their winner was also a duel that we lost at the corner.

As you say, we cant play Rugby every single away game like Arteta wants us to, we need to switch the game to take it away from our opponent. Stretch the pitch and make it difficult for them to stay compact and wait for us centrally or out wide at Saka/Martinelli.

Change the game, go long, go short, cross into space, attack the team with direct runs. Arteta needs to get that into our game, otherwise we'll do nothing this season.
