Can't we just have a pinned thread so that people actually know the Suarez clause wasn't a release? I lost count of the amount of times it's been posted and people still think it was a release clause.

Might finally put and end to it being brought up in every thread.

 Couldn't ever see Wenger saying Arsenal were a nothing club. He's too respectful, unlike our fans it seems. This making him out to be a demon is beyond a joke.
No he never says that he can be dumb in many ways but not that dumb! However why does he even mention this? First of all does he not remember before he came to Arsenal who had heard of Arsène Wenger?

He says our club is the greatest club and it has been for him. The projects building a new stadium becoming better commercially were all in place BEFORE he arrived and D Dein was the driving force. If it had not been Wenger, Dein would have found another to drive this project forward. ALSO virtually ALL clubs in premier league are at a higher level and profile now than from the 1990's.

Wenger can rightfully claim he has played a massive part in growing us..but he has been rewarded handsomely and our FANS and club have been loyal to him. Remember our fans paid the highest season tickets and extortionate hot dog prices in the world during this time to help finance this as well!

Its time this guy woke up and realised we owe him NOTHING. He has us to thank for giving him a wonderful platform to build his reputation and take his ideas to give HIM a profile as high as it is globally. The reality is outside the PL he has been a MASSIVE MASSIVE failure even with the most talented squads in our history. He has been found out by better foreign coaches easily time and time again!

This is in a results business and being nearly 20 points off winning the league while getting spanked not just by giants but also under performing lower table clubs is NOT what he set out to be 20 years ago when he joined our club. Had he done that in first 3 years he would be gone!.

One more thing sure Liverpool never won the PL but Wenger never won the CL or uefa cup...even with pi*s poor squads Liverpool did it. So he should stop making himself look dumb continually by saying that

At the time everyone thought it was a release clause - Suarez and his agent, Arsenal, fans, media etc.

"Luis Suarez is the top scorer in the English Premier League, which is arguably the top soccer league in the world," Henry is reported to have said. "He had a buyout clause of £40m. Arsenal, one of our prime rivals, offered £40m plus £1. What we've found … is that contracts don't seem to mean a lot in England – actually, in world football.

Let it be end of it. He had a clause. Liverpool didn't want to sell.

Wtf is wenger up too bringing saurez back up again! We ****ed up didn't sign like we have with many others!

Stop making excuses and sign proper players to make the team better and stop talking about these players you could off signed! You are an awful excuse of a manager now!!

Not one person can give me a legitimate reason why he should sign this new contract! The tings he has come out with since the Bayern defeat is awfully cringeworthy!

Search for the pfa statement about it, an independent statement, not one from a club chairman who has an agenda.

All you're doing is spreading misinformation.

Nah I take the words of Liverpool owner for this.

Not yours or some misinformation around the internet. Thanks a lot.

Or we could just ban the word "Suarez" I'm fed up with the whole saga!

This is correct. Suarez had a clause but Liverpool knew that they could still refuse to sell and it would take Suarez suing Liverpool for breach of contract or something that would take longer to resolve than the transfer window would be open so Liverpool knew they could just make Suarez back down and he couldn't force transfer.
