We've tried him as a RCB, LCB, in all three positins in a 3-man defence and he has been crap in all of them.

Either bench him or find a new position for him, this is just not working. Stop playing him as a CB or at all.

Actually he was playing very well in the back three.

Thought he was actually our least sh**ty defender today, actually made a number of good tackles upfield and at the back. Still made some dumb decisions though.

Mislintat sign some talented Greek player and Wenger refuse to loan him out even if that was recommendation from his staff but not only does he that but he refuse then to play him and play our worst defender game after game, mistake after mistake instead. Just to show he has the power over the team. This is disgusting from Wenger and he needs to be sacked. Thankfully Wenger contract is up in the summer so we can let him go eas... OH ****ing wait that was last summer. The ****ing owners had chance last summer to let him go. ****ing Brilliant.

1. Mavropannos was injured for the game.
2. It wasn't just Wenger, he wanted him loaned too. Coaching staff wanted the lad to stay.
3. He's job is on the line, he's not going to risk playing kids, he'll play the senior staff. Dammed if he does, damned if he doesn't situation.
4. Stop treating Sven as the second coming of Christ.

The manager needs to be moved on, but some of the lengths people go to pin something on Wenger that is beyond him are amazing.

Bigger issues than Mustafi today:

Holding (hot garbage)
Cech
Monreal
Chambers
Xhaka (not fit)
Iwobi
Willock

Mustafi is the AM whipping boy. If it wasn't official, it is now.

Cech 4
Chambers 4
Mustafi 4
Holding 4
Monreal 4
Elneny 5
Xhaka 5
Willock 5
Iwobi 6
Lacazette 6
Aubameyang 6

Mustafi really is a poor mans Vermaelen. I dont know why we arent playing Mertesacker Koscielny until the end of the season.

Rating Willock and Iwobi above anyone but Cech dismisses your analysis imo. Willock was not even one of our top 20 players today.

Iwobi was arguably our best player today. I gave him a 6, so that should illustrate how **** the rest behind him were. Willock wasnt terrible in the 1st half but got pulled off at the right time.

Interesting.

Didn't see it, but finding good play today was a challenge ;)

He was our most senior CB, but he managed to have a hand in us conceding.

1. goal: He either has to get in front of Perez to get the ball or position himself to block it.

2. goal: Ill-advised clearance to the middle instead into the stands to reorganize the defence.

I know we have a **** system but players are also doing their part. Instead of him kicking on and becoming the best CB on the team, he looks worse with time. Moreover, our defence doesn't communicate, Cech has become apathetic and our younger players look equally lost as do our older players. We need a manager but we need a replacement for Mustafi because this is just not working out.

He really needs to get his concentration back. Decision making doesn't seem to be his forte. Agree that he wasn't the worst player on the pitch though.

He also made 5 tackles, was pretty dominant in the air as usual, made a buttload of clearances, one goal saving sliding block, and created our first goal.

I'm not arguing that this makes up for his errors, only that people are too quick to jump on his back. Holding and Monreal were far worse. He's also had plenty of excellent games this season which people seem to conveniently forget.

I'm not going to say the usual bs about 'he's still young for a CB' or 'he plays well for Germany'. He is clearly under performing considering his price tag, but I do believe that he can still play a role for us in the future with a stabilised defence.

This attitude is why the club has stagnated and is what we need to get rid of if we want to return to the top. Who cares about Mustafi's excellent games when it is those not excellent games from him that cost us points and has led to our current position in the league? Your Senderos/Djourou/Vermelean/Gabriel has better excellent games to **** games ratio than Mustafi before they were gotten rid of. Mustafi is a highly flawed defender with low IQ, concentration issues and makes bad passes when pressed. And the fact that he will be our most senior center back once Koscienly steps down (something that is happening sooner rather than latter) is something that should make everyone wet their pants.
