I could understand keeping Cedric if Arteta likes what he's seeing in terms of dedication and quality, but the 4 years just bogle my mind. Definitely looks shady if one takes Ornstein's comments into account.

Hasn't actually been confirmed its a four year deal. Only Ornstein has mentioned the 4 years and he isn't all that reliable these days since he no longer has Gazidiz feeding him inside knowledge and works for the athletic.

Case in point Ornstein said Arsenal signed Luiz for 8m and on a 2 year deal which we later found out was a 1 year deal with the option of a second year, which we renegotiated. I think it is far more likely that it is a three year deal with the option of an extra year. We can lay into the club as much as we want and don't get me wrong Raul is dodgy as they come but we literally have someone (Huss Fahmy) who is employed to specifically handle contracts and he has zero connections with these guys and comes from a different industry. He doesn't strike me as someone who is going to be taken for a ride.

But he was signed as a loan deal, that's the point. If the club were so convinced of his absolute quality in January then why not sign him on a permanent deal back then?

Basically this way we get to have a look at him in training, see what Arteta makes of him close up and make that permanent offer from a more informed position. Rumour has it that he's so happy to be at Arsenal he's taking a pay cut... we shall if thats true or not

Osei Tutu did pretty well during his Bochum loan no? plus he’s played fullback a fair few times I think?
Be nice to see him get a chance pre season at the very least before selling.

Agree, though he's always looked defensively poor to me. Worth having a look for sure, because hes a great athlete and offers a fair bit going forward - and you never know how a kid will adapt.

Bellerin has been awful and AMN is not a fullback, so I'm eager to see what Cedric can do. Can't be worse than what we're currently seeing.

I hope he'll play forward more and that he knows how to cross a ball. Sick of what Hector has been showing in those departments recently.

very surprising comments about Cedric. I'm wondering if thats as much to get others working harder as it is to get the fans onside to the strange decision.

That's an incredibly damning statement, very surprised he said something with such clear negative implications on Bellerin.

"He's a different quality in the full-back area than what we have."

Christ, Cedric hasn't even played for us yet

He's right though; Cedric has been a better pl fullback than Bellerin the last three seasons

Of course he was going to say what he said about Cedric. It is a very questionable signing under scrutiny by is fans as he has not played a game and been crocked from the start. Why on earth would anyone but us buy him after that.

This one is even more damning:
"Probably the best we have in the final
third to make the right decision"

Might have watched them in training so he probably rates Cedric more than Bellerin

If that quote is what Arteta really thinks - I wouldn’t be surprised if Bellerin moves on after either this season or next. I can’t really see a team like ours needing two specialist right backs given that we have AMN who seems to have become a utility player based on that very position.
