Obviously Arteta forgot about Leicester winning the league with out massive spend and then making the jump back to CL spots without massive spend.
We just need to get smarter with recruitment and work on improving what we have. We have good players. Arteta has already shown he can improve most of them as seen with Mustafi and Xhaka recently. of course we can get better players but we are in a good position that just needs refining around the edges.

to be fair, the overall quality of everyone else that season was not nearly as good as it is now. Not saying it can’t be done, but we named some high quality players now. Selling dead wood and making 2-3 quality outfield signings and signing aubameyang to a new deal should do it

No he didn't forget, everybody knows that Leicester was a freak win. They waited 140 years for that. Not a model anyone in their right mind would argue for.

I think we can comfortably make EL next year without any signings, but to get CL we definitely need a few players

A great soundbite but like most soundbites deceptive. A bag of money scored Barcelona's goal tonight. Yes, wasn't enough for Barcelona not to lose to Osasuna but they still ended up way ahead of them in the league. Which proves the point that money will more often than not buy success unless someone is spending more than you.

Yeah. And until we have a team where 3 or 4 of our players would easily get into the other top teams we wont be close.
Player for player we are about the 6/7th best team. Compared to any team more of their players get in a mixed team than vice versa.
