It's not very reassuring though, is it?
Disagree. Science is not a religion. Nothing more annoying when some tards start preaching it as the holy truth after reading one page about evolution theory without having clue how it really works.
Trax was joking. Anyway I thought the basics of evolution was pretty much self explanatory. And even if you didn't have a full understanding of molecular evolutionary genetics or whatever, would you need to in order to come to the conclusion that every holy book under the sun is pure horse ****?
Don't think he was joking. Science is not a religion and shouldn't be treated that way.
This is where people fail. When they start treating science in same category as other religions and that science is above them. Its not science vs other religions. Science is not a religion.
@hydrofluoric acid @Jury We started as star dust and will end up as star dust. There's nothing more spiritual or complete than that.
It doesnt need to be a religion. It's science. It's physical. Religion is fairy tales.
No not spiritual. Just science.
you two are like scientists arent you? Ok, Im out lol
That is what I was trying to say @Jury !
Religion:a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion. That's science.
Porn is my religion
Its my Science as well apparently
@Jury Porn is just biology. Everything leads back to science :)
1. (63) religion, faith, religious belief -- (a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny; "he lost his faith but not his morality")
religion [rəˈlidʒən] noun
1 a belief in, or the worship of, a god or gods.
2 a particular system of belief or worship: Christianity and Islam are two different religions.
Porn is above both religion and science.
There are lots of powers that control the universe and the life forms in it, from pheromones to entropy. They're my religion.
“Heat is work, and work’s a curse,
and all the heat in the universe,
is gonna cool down. ‘Cause it can’t increase,
then there’ll be no more work, and there’ll be perfect peace.
That’s entropy, man.”
Whether true or not, religion gives people rules and something to believe. If we didn't have religion people would be doing whatever they please without fearing consequences such as going to hell.
In Norse religion people believed that when they die in battle they live a glorious life in Valhalla. This gave the vikings the confidence they needed in battle.
@David Smith Total confusion in your mind. Laws stop people doing what they please and giving people confidence in conflict/terrorist situations is exactly what is wrong with religion.
Not sure you can say that conflict/terrorist is following any religion.
Humans don't follow laws or rules that well.
@hydrofluoric acid Are you saying that when those terrorists flew into the World Trade Centre they weren't going to paradise in their minds? Wow
I think if they really followed Islam they would never have flew into the world trade centre in first place.
@hydrofluoric acid It's the whole afterlife thing. The 21st century and time for humans to grow up and put aside the fairytales. The universe is wondrous enough without inventing gods.
If people followed the major religions there would be peace.
What happens when we die is still being studied by science.
What I wanted to say. If people did follow the major religion. That is they who believe. There would be peace from this people.
I'm not sure atheists contribute anymore to peace than others. You take away religion and you still will have conflict and terrorism. That is humans at this stage of their evolution.
What happens when animals die is well understood. A beautiful process of recycling of chemicals by bacteria and fungi. There's no mystery in those mechanisms @hydrofluoric acid
