2004 - From January to July: The Mini Preview

The Mini

While everyone is basking in the delights of a man in a red and white suit coming down their chimney (Sounds like Rocky’s afterlife wont be in vein), I, as a naughty boy, is scouring the universe for something worthwhile in the 365 days that are known as the year 2004.

January - Lovely visits to Merseyside and Aston and a chance to entertain the goal-full Middlesbrough in the Premier league. We also have 2 the first two rounds of the FA Cup (or one, the Cup claims to have magic). There is also the prospect of playing Middlesbrough again, but in the Carling Cup… twice, in all red, white and yellow.

February - This month holds us the chance of two London derby’s, hospitalising Charlton and visiting the ever Russian Chelski, along with visits from Man City and FA Cup finalists Southampton and travels to far off Wolverhampton. On the European front there is a visit to our great friend Beck’s and the occasional encounter with Celta Vigo. We also have the FA Cup round at it’s 5th. And hopefully a trip to Cardiff in the Carling Cup final.

March - March holds us a trip to sunny Blackburn and home match ups with the ever pleasing Bolton and our perfect partners Man Utd in the League. We have the pleasure of Celta Vigo at Highbury and possibly the first leg of a Quarter Final in the Champions League. The FA Cup has a 6th Round on the (Ironically) the 6th day of March.

April - The Spring sun brings us trips south and north to Portsmouth and Newcastle respectively, and with visits from Liverpool and Leeds (The desperate and cash-strapped) and climaxes with the long trip to the old enemy, Sp**s. Europe beholds a possible second Quarter-Final leg game and even the first leg of the semi’s. Another semi-final possibility lies in the FA Cup.

May - The climax of the 2003-’04 English Premier League comes in with not much work for the bus driver, with visits from many boys in blue, Birmingham and Leicester (who round up the season) come and our seasonal trip to Fulham is in between. As usual we have finals, and we do. A trip to Schalke in Germany for the end of the UEFA Champions League. There is another trip to Cardiff if we succeed in thus far in The FA Challenge Cup.

From June to July - This is time to put away our Arsenal shirts and get out our National attire (England shirts to the uneducated), and to start waving those scarves at the television, or to take over Portugal (the latter for the rich).

But in the mean time Merry Christmas!

Arsenal Quotes

I've never been a goalscorer. I've only owned goals. Good own goals.
