Why so serieuse?
When you're struggling, you don't buy for two years time unless you're prepared to lose the manager and drop out of Europe altogether and all the revenues that entails. It's only Arteta who's saved Raul and Edu this year.

Even so they're still hell bent on destruction even now. Mari, Cedric, Luiz, Willian will get us absolutely nowhere.
Luiz was fine under Arteta and we've not seen Mari play to really judge him. Cedric is a backup to Bellerin, bought when Amn was semi frozen out of the tea. Willian again is a depth signing we're not expecting him to take us anywhere. Think the single largest factor in our poor performance was Emery, which is not transfer related. Arteta would have had us in the top four with the same team.

You're not still blaming Hector for that. You populists won the vote, just sit back and enjoy the disaster to come.

We have the commonwealth and the Empire. Top 7 economies in the world. Trident. We are bigger than all the EU combined. And what irks Bellerin the most, GIBRALTAR IS OURS

Luiz wasn't fine under Arteta. He did what he always does, **** up every few games. Infact he's the first player since 2015 in the Prem to commit a howler that gifts a goal to the opposition, then give away a penalty and get sent off, which he did in June after the restart.

And Emery was only part of our problem. He kept seeing our players make stupid mistakes and constantly messed with the selection and formation to try and mitigate it, but he just made it worse.

Our squad is the major problem.

My brother posted it ⏩
People can slate the last window but if Saliba, Tierney, Ceballos (if signed), Pepe and Martinelli are a big factor for Arteta from next season onwards then it was a successful window.

Nobody can disagree with that even if @Makingtrax just feels the need to bring up the same ****e from years ago over and over again

Depends on if you judge your transfer window on the following season or wait a few years to fully judge the signings.

The latter is looking good, Tierney and Pepe could be first eleven players for the next 5 years.

In the short term well we qualified for the Europa league last season and this season we have again...but with an FA cup to boot.

Recognising Emery was a bum yet blaming the transfer window for our season smells a little bit of agenda.

He’s just super super subtly pushing squad cost.

Luiz bad > error prone defenders > error prone because they’re cheap > money buys you better less error prone defenders > an expensive squad is better than a cheaper squad > Wenger outperformed his squad cost for years > Wenger is the best manager of all time

Literally everyone was delighted when Pepe signed, they also thought Ceballos and Tierney were great signings. Luiz wasn't great but we spent big on the biggest cb prospect out there and there are no cb's out there (also of the big 6 expect Liverpool need at least 1 cb). The business was fine on paper but that doesn't guarantee success. We'll reap the rewards for our fine business next season, I'm certain Pepe will explode and Ceballos was the best midfielder in the league post break. Forget about Martinelli as well who is guaranteed world class.

It was a good window but we needed more. Luiz was the only one I was iffy about and it proved right. We bought in a really good age bracket as well, Martinelli, Tierney, Pepe, Saliba, Ceballos (Loan), all relatively young. But we should've bought someone better than Luiz and brought in another central midfielder.

EDIT: Although in hindsight I can see why we settled with just Ceballos. Nobody expected Torreira to have such a garbage campaign, and Guendouzi being a little sh*t.

It really is sad to see the agenda for a man who was firmly anti-English and hated us

If your players are making lots of individual errors, I would have thought the last thing you do is constantly rotate the squad and alter formations, it's likely to get worse. And it did.

Arteta has had much more success by finding one solution, such as 3 at the back to try and shore up the defence and sticking with it. Then work with the problem player as much as possible until there's a chance to offload them.

You bum squaders are just p!ssed that you're never right.

Weren't right about what would happen when you forced Wenger out, weren't right about Emery, weren't right about last years transfer window, aren't right about buying Kia's 'has beens'.

Must be a miserable existance.

We had this exact debate last summer . . we needed a quality midfielder to replace Ramsey, and two better CBs. Not a loanee and yet another rash CB.

What would you have done?

Arguing against squad cost is stupid bro, @Makingtrax is right. It all comes down to the quality of players and more money = better players.
