How good actually is Almunia?

Below is a list of every prem side and their first choice keepers. This thread is to discuss where you would honestly rate Al in regards to the rest of our league.

For me, when you see them listed in front of you, you realise that he is actually one of the poorest keepers in the league. We are considered one of the top 5-10 teams in all of world football, yet we have a goalkeeper who im sure most will not even consider top 15 in the league, and this to me is a HUGE problem with our defense.

So the question would be this. Do Arsenal need a world class kepper to be able to compete in the premiership, or can we actually make a sustained run at the league without someone of the highest order? Do we, as Arsenal fans, expect us to have class in every single position?

Thoughts?

Arsenal - Almunia
Aston Villa - Friedel
Birmingham - Hart
Blackburn - Robinson
Bolton - Jaskelainen
Burnley - Jensen
Chelsea - Cech
Everton - Howard
Fulham - Schwazer
Hull - Myhill
Liverpool - Reina
Man City - Given
Mannure - Van Der Sar
Portsmouth - James
Stoke - Sorensen
Sunderland - Gordon
Tottenham - Gomez
West Ham - Green
Wigan - Kirkland
Wolves - Hanneman/Hennessey

Based upon last season, which is the reason why he is first choice this one, he is a good but not great goalkeeper.

Big game bottler.

Put him in the last 5 of the list. Was always average but had an outstanding season last year. This year more so a return to normality.

I went through the list and had him at 19 behind Myhill. For a club such as ourselves, that surely cant be good enough.

Based on every season, hes below average.

Costs us at least two big games a year, one too many.

Wanted him out in 2005 when we conceded 4 vs united at Highbury, wanted his head when he cost us the champions league.
