I don’t mind a signing like Draxler. Doesn’t block ESR and can play in several positions. He’s not as good as the hype when he was younger but he’d be a good edition to the squad.
Seems like Brandt might be the most likely signing this window. We’re probably waiting to get rid of Özil and Sokratis before we do it. Draxler a backup option.
Would be a horrible transfer, another Willian.
People forget that Willian was performing at a significantly higher level than Draxler, yet we will want him gone ASAP, but he'll drain 3 years of playing time and big wages out of us.
Draxler will be just another one, we will repace deadwood with new deadwood. Is anyone like Draxler going to ever help us get to the top again ?
Draxler on loan, without ever buying him is the only acceptable outcome.
The carrott for Draxler is his age and the fact there is a Euros followed by a world Cup. Come in play well he could be on the plane and then 12 months later a world Cup.
Also Cavani and Silva doing better than the Chelsea retirement players we've bought.
Its sad what happened to Draxler, but its his own fault and probable greed that caused it. Although he was never a elite level talent, he looked really promising at one stage but seemingly stayed at Schalke too long, and then eventually went to PSG where he was never gonna be the main man. He was well aware of this I'm sure, and hasn't really forced a move since as he would need a wage cut. Now he is 27 and has wasted so many years at that club.
I really do think that he could have become a really good player had we actually pulled the trigger back in the day. Wenger always did wonders with attacking players.
Also can't believe Draxler still 27 years old seem been in scenes for a while he could still salvage something from his career but we really not in position for these type of signings specially his wages are high 120k a week.
I think if money really becomes an issue, Draxler with 6 months to go on his contract & able to sign a pre contract from now he becomes an option. A backup choice if our targets are out of reach.
If he couldn't make it in the French league, he shouldn't be an option for Arsenal. Our recent signings from this league have been terrible and so will this. Should go to a club in Spain or back to the Bundesliga to re-activate his career
