I would take a punt on him as a squad player. But we still need a top quality striker to partner RVP / replace him when unfit. Doyle isnt one of those.

Nah, Doyle just isn't good enough for us. He'd never represent value for money at the prices being thrown about, I think anything over 5 or 6m is too much for him.
I think he gets linked with top clubs because of Trapatonni throwing his name about quite often. He has done the same with Given.

I doubt he'll be in the market for a striker at all now. Bendtner out, Gervinho in. Done.
