Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger is said to be considering a £5m swoop for highly rated Besiktas midfielder Matias Delgado.

Argentine international Delgado has just over a year left to run on his current contract in Turkey and is said to be available for around the £5 million mark.

Wenger is not alone in being linked with the player though as Premiership rivals Middlesbrough and Everton are also keen on the 25-year-old playmaker and they all face competition from Spanish sides Valencia and Villarreal who are also interested.

Delgado is believed to favour moving to a club challenging for Champions League honours which gives the Gunners the edge over their Premiership rivals.

Arsenal are stepping up their interest in Besiktas midfielder Matias Delgado.
Istanbul sources say Arsenal have made contact with Besiktas about Delgado's availability and are willing to offer £4 million to bring him to London in the summer.

Yeah, he used to play for Basel. Seems like an solid player though, but he is not Arsenal quality just yet and is more suited for mid-table teams if he is to join the Premier League.

Delgado is ready to quit Turkey for a bigger competition and the Gunners are being linked with a £7 million bid for the holding midfielder.

ARSENAL are reported to be interested in Besiktas midfielder Matias Delgado as Arsène Wenger searches for a replacement for Mathieu Flamini.

The £7million-rated Argentinian has emerged as a target for Wenger after impressing in the holding midfield role for the Turkish outfit.

Delgado, 25, began his career at FC Basel in Switzerland, with a fantastic scoring record of almost one every two games from midfield.

After moving to Besiktas for 6.5million euros in 2006, he has continued to improve.

Wenger may see him as an ideal replacement for Flamini, who joined AC Milan earlier this month.

Dont see this happening as well, he plays best as a central attacking midfielder so i dont think that wenger is seriously in for this guy.
