You can't make this up. Pablo Mari hardly ever gets injured. Only missing 2 games in the last 4 years. Joins Arsenal...picks up a term injury in just his 3rd appearance.

You just have to laugh at the absurdity.
Maybe the problem is in the team... You know, this is not about luck anymore. This is about bad physical prep.

Yes it isn't about luck, that is clear. It is obvious it has something to do with us. We consistently top or near the top of the injury table every year.

League is very weak
With all new staff in terms of coaching and training methods, surely it rules out these injuries being an Arsenal problem?

Even the injury of Xhaka is due by a lack of strength in the muscles legs. It is related obviously to almost 3 months without playing but this is making even more evident our bad physio team. Even players with good records gets injured here.

Not necessarily... You can have a bad team and then have a worst one. A change bad implemented doesn't resolve anything.

After Wednesday's horror show hard to feel optimistic about this. Playing our best players and playing them in their best positions might help but the City game was even worse because we now go to a winnable game (on paper) with heavier legs than our opponent.

I would hope the team is freshened up and we get some from Martinelli, Özil, Sokratis, Holding, Laca, Nelson, AMN, Torreira coming in. Can't see us get more than a draw and we could lose this. Can't see us challenging for 5th if we don't win here.

We will win this one.

Not going to bother picking an 11 at the moment as it seems Arteta is picking names out of a hat at this stage.

Leno in goal, Tierney LB, Saka LW and Auba up front. Don't care about the rest, most of them aren't good enough anyway.

0-2 to kickstart our season.

Have thought a little more about matters and I’d be livid if Nketiah is shoe horned in again at the expense of better players either being left out or playing out of position.

For me personally, I’d go:

Aubameyang-Lacazette-Pepe

or

Martinelli-Aubameyang-Pepe

The subsitutions in the 2nd half he made I was surprised he didn't even give any game time to Martinelli and Pepe, brought Nelson on before Pepe. If Arteta keeps on doing this consistently then I don't know what I'd think of Arteta.

Saka/Martinelli-Auba-Pepe as the front 3. If he wants to keep giving chances to Eddie then I'd go,

Auba-Eddie-Pepe.

I don't know much about the type of injury that Mari got but is that a freak injury or something that can happen from over-training and such?

The thing is what you said also applies to the fact we overturn staff and players yet always seem to have the same issues with our performances. Every year we have the same issues against the top 6, massive errors, penalties and red cards. How does that happen with different managers, coaches and players? The only thing I can think of is the mental issues at the club are so deep-rooted they get passed on to every new signing rapidly. It's a disease.

We'd basically have to clean the slate in 1 summer to get rid of it. Any maybe not sign players known for comical errors like Luiz...

Sokratis out for two weeks, no Chambers, Mari, or Luiz. Its either Holding or KT starting at CB. Personally I’d give it Holding and try get him some minutes.

We replace players with player of the same or less quality. That's why theres never any change. Also the structure of the team is a mess. We have ignored a sitting DCM for 10 years. We have failed in recruiting a solid 7/10 defender who does the ugly stuff well. Why? Because we think we are a brand of football above that.

We have failed to identify players who are specialised in one fixed position.

We are playing left footed wingers on the right all the time. They have to cut in therefore making the middle of the pitch congested.

We have a number 9 playing left wing.

We have Martinelli who looked superb first few games under Arteta nowhere to be seen.

Chelsea you can predict the team.
Liverpool the same.
United the same.

With Arsenal you have no fixed starting 11. That is not a good thing as it indicates the players are as bad as each other and the manager is trying to throw something together and get lucky.

We saw that under Wenger at the end too, remember Ox at left back?

We've let a lot of players go in the last couple of years but our recruitment is still awful.

I remember reading from some ex-pros that the surfaces at London Colney could be to blame:
Ex Arsenal player, Martin Keown has come out and explained there is something wrong with the pitch.

“These are grass and artificial grass hybrids and are quite hard surfaces, and by the end of my career I could feel every impact in my joints. Imagine training on that pitch every day. Wilshere has been playing on it since he joined the club as a young child.”

There is obviously s problem with the pitch, but as Keown explained, Jack Wilshere has been at Arsenal from day one and he is constantly injured. Another example is Danny Welbeck. When he was at Manchester United, although he did get injured, it wasn’t as much as he is now, within a couple of months of signing for Arsenal, he was injured…

Ex Arsenal player, Ian Wright also spoke to Rio Ferdinand about this and he explained

“I spoke to Rio the other day and he said he had to train there with England and it was noticeable instantly.”
