Player Ratings - FA: Blackburn Rovers vs Arsenal | 28/02/07

These threads are getting worse by the week. If we'd been awarded and scored both penaltys the scores would be completely different for almost every player. Too many people do their ratings based on results and reputations.

Almunia 6 - helpless for the goal, his distribution was dodgy

Eboue - 6 never really got forward but defended well, kept Gamst out of the game
Senderos - 6 was good at centre half, got ****ed at right back
Gallas - 8 had a great game, dealt with everything that came his way
Gilberto - 7 good game, was good at centre half though I was unsure of his positioning for the goal
Traore - 7 competent in defense joined the attack a few times, did nothign wrong
Freddie - 8 much improved, probably his best game in months. Was excellent in the first half, worked his socks off to help out Traore and made some great runs. Denied a stone wall peno
Denilson - 4 terrible. Worst game from him so far. Lost the ball repeatedly.
Hleb - 6 looked bright enough in the first half but faded
Baptista - a couple of great shots saved by Friedel, a couple of ones he should've put away. He was getting his head on things and missing but at least he getting on them
Aliadiere - 2 Absolutely terrible. Even for his penalty claim he'd already lost possession with a terrible touch. Anonymous for the rest of the game. Seems Liverpool was a one off the lads no where good enough.

Wenger - 4 What was he doing playing Senderos at right full. He was just asking for us to be hurt.

Expected Denilson to be poor, started way too many games now for a 18 year old.
Impressed by Gallas. And dont blame Hleb here - there was no one else to offer creativity to our side.

Too many players with rubbish first touches, and too many players who don't know how to score goals last night.

When, before the game, you look at the team sheet and realised you'd be just a little bit surprised if any of the players on it scored, you know you're in for a tough night.

Blackburn never threatened though, partly because they were crap, but mainly because Senderos and Gallas both had excellent games neutralising Nonda and Derbyshire - but one chance-one goal is the same old story with an Arsenal side built to play pretty football without dealing too much with the messy business of putting the ball in the back of the net.

Baptista had a few chances, and should probably have had a goal, Freddie made a couple of nice runs but his first-touch was dreadful. Aliadiere made a nice pass, but doesn't look like he'll ever be a goalscorer, and also has a surprisingly bad first touch. Hleb was.... blah, I can't be arsed.

Almunia 7 - could do little about the goal, otherwise flawless
Eboue 5 - doesn't look like the player he was last season, not as good at getting forward. No longer compensating for his moaning/diving
Gallas 7 - solid defending against mediocre opposition
Senderos 7 - Excellent until Wenger moved him to RB, then was totally out of position and at fault for the goal
Traore 6 - a couple of nice runs, but little end product. Looks like a good prospect who's just not ready for this level
Gilberto 5 - too many misplaced passes
Denilson 5 - ditto, though had a nice through ball in the first half
Ljungberg 5 - can't string more than one good thing together any more, completely ineffective
Hleb 5 - No impact, wayward passing, nice turns though, and the only player who can control the ball with one touch these days
Aliadiere 4 - one nice pass and.... well, that's about it. Nothing else.
Baptista 5 - should have scored with one header, although the chance he tried to control in the box was unfortunate, as he must have been very surprised to recieve the ball. A couple of great shots though, well saved by Friedel.

Blah.

Almunia - 6.5 (was solid but was only really called on once, which was the goal which no one could do anything about)

Traore - 6 (not ready yet, but has great potential)
Gallas - 7 (can we ever get kolo and gallas playing together for more than one game?)
Senderos - 6.5 (did well while at CB, was average at RB)
Eboue - 5.5 (way off his early season form)

Ljungberg - 6 (looked better than usual, making those runs again)
Denilson - 6 (did okay i thought)
Gilberto - 6 (okay, can't expect anything spectacular)
Hleb - 6.5 (bad day but still created chances, was the only one of the three musketeers playing)

Aliadiere - 5.5 (looks great on the ball, but didn't produce much)
Baptista - 6.5 (had chances, got in good positions, good pot shots, but bad control)

How can you give Senderos and Gallas the same rating. You gotta at least TRY to be impartial in these ratings man.

What, you think I'm rating Senderos because I fancy him?

I'm giving him the same rating because he was better than Gallas before he moved to right back, but then was poor. Thus, on a weighted average basis, I'd say they were about the same.
