Almunia...5...his kicking is unbelievably poor. We may aswell just give the ball back to them. Thought he went to ground pretty easily for the goal aswell.

Sagna...6.5...pretty solid. Some poor crosses though.
Gallas...6...strong on the ground but the guy is so weak aerially. Hates physical strikers. Some good forward drives.
TV...7...thought he was strong for the most part.
Traore...6....made a great interception first half. Got frustrated though and kicked the ball into the crowd needlessly. Some decent forward runs.

Fabregas...4...really bad day at the office. Needs to buck up away from the home comforts.
Ramsey...5...bad day aswell. Bullied out of the game.
Song...7...stood strong. Got caught upfield a few times but in this case I can understand as nobody was doing anything offensively.
Nasri...5...never got going. Not enough off the ball movement. Didn't do much better when moved inside.
Rosicky...5...poor day aswell.

Eduardo...5...some heavy touches and the hold-up play wasn't there. Think there is more to come from him though.

People underrating Cesc's contribution every single time our team is doing bad and we don't win, it gets really boring. You shouldn't even rate Cesc, it's so predictable.

The thing is, he was trying a lot, he showed for the ball and did his best to control the midfield, BUT it's not his fault he didn't have decent passing options, and that there was no real threat up front. He took several shots as well, if he had more luck he'd be getting 8's.

Rate him down if he plays sloppily, but if you rate him down because his teammates weren't up to it...

It's the same all over again, our front three are closed down, and we lack movement - how exactly Cesc was going to get good ratings then? Who should he play the through ball for?

Our set piece capabilities contributes to so many missed opportunities and conceded goals, it's shameful. Almunia's goalkicks are a free gift to the opposition to launch an attack. Cesc's freekicks are a free gift to the opposition to counter-attack us. Not to mention our defensive ability on corners and freekicks, although we have slightly improved in that area.

i do wonder if people actually remember the players' performance or just specific highlights here and there. song was at times terrible yesterday. held on to the ball and got himself in a lot of trouble a number of times. not to mention, he contributed probably the most to our slow passing game in midfield.

just ****ing release the ball already, no need to turn back and forth 5 times before letting go of it...

Almunia 6 nothing he could do for the goal, had little else to do
Sagna 5 caught out of position too often
Gallas 7 fine
Vermaelen 7 fine
Traore 6 ok on the ball, wasn't terrible in defence, very poor movement off the ball in attack
Song 5 passing was terrible, lost the ball alot to tackles too
Fabregas 5 passing nowhere near his usual. Very quiet in general.
Ramsey 5 tried hard but too many loose passes
Rosicky 4 contributed nothing of value
Nasri 4 ditto
Eduardo 5 isolated but never did enough when he did get the ball

If theres on thing that consistently annoys me about this team its throw ins. We may as well have a neutral party throwing the ball up between 2 players. It seems like a small thing but its ****ed us over too many times.

It was an odd game. We weren't playing badly and imo I don't think anyone did worse than a 6. It's more that overall for some reason things didn't click.

I also think Traore did a good job standing in.

Lets not forget which team dominated and also the nature of Sunderlands goal - we weren't that bad.

Yes, we were. First half we weren't, but overall we were.

Almunia: 5.5 (nearly average but he did pretty badly for the goal)

Sagna: 5 (poor, he didn't offer much at all going forward)
TV: 6 (decent performance, brought the ball up a few times)
Gallas: 6 (see TV)
Traore: 5 (a bit lost defensively at first, offensively didn't really add that much, terrible challenge near the end)

Song: 6.5 (decent, but held on to the ball too long at times, showed a real lack of pace though)
Cesc: 6 (no space, no options, but it was clear the Sunderland tactics played with his mind ... needed to step up his game instead of complaining)
Ramsey: 4 (bad performance, too slow on the ball)

Nasri: 5 (nearly non-existent, physically unable to contribute)
Rosicky: 5 (also non-existent)
Eduardo: 5 (should have scored and showed he is not capable of playing as the lone striker in our formation .. he's too short)

Subs:
Arshavin: 5.5 (started brightly when he came on but faded very quickly after)
Walcott: 6 (showed some ability but also showed some rustiness)
Vela: 6.5 (showed nice touches and creativity)

Couldn't be bothered with the individual ratings but agree with most posted here.

Overall team rating 4 for a typical labouring performance after the international break.

The crux for me is we still don't know how to 'force' the opposition defence to make a mistake (the easier option) rather than relying on us to produce a moment of brilliance (the harder option).
