Player:Tomiyasu
I am quite surprised nobody started this yesterday. our boys did well, nows time to rate their performance

Fabianski 7 - some of his decision was questionable, but he did well as a whole and made some good saves. looks like lehmann always coming out to punch balls. but sheff players were quite commanding and he didn't get to any before our players head those away.

Diarra 8 - played really well, was quite surprised he could play so attackingly in rightback. really deserves a start in CM

Song 6.5 - shaky at times, but decent

Hoyte 7 - he really should be having more games. improved alot

Gibbs 7 - not acclamatised to leftback, but played well. all his tackles were spot on, and still provided a superb assist to eduardo with a delightful throughball in the 2nd half. looks like clichy at times when he dribbles his way up front.

Walcott 8 - totally smashed sheff leftback. his pace was scary he could have dribbled past their whole team. unlucky not to get a goal when he impossibly got a ball through his pace and from a tight angle did well to hit even the post. really a great player

Gilberto 7.5 - kept our youthful team calmness, saved our arse clearing off the line. showed great positioning sense to intercept their play.

Denilson 8 - played well, got a goal. shown why he deserves a start. can tackle, can shoot, can score. some great options in the middle.

Diaby 6 - not his best yesterday. but sheffield rightback was very tough to get by. still can't play at LM with one footed.

Bendtner 7 - was clever with some of his passes. did reasonably well yesterday. raw but highly potential

Eduardo 8.5 - MOTM with 2 great clinical goals. we were playing 4-3-3 at most times with walcott on the right and him on the left. he was very pacy on the left too and provided many decent opportunities for our players. really good game for him. deserves a start on saturday

Subs - all 3 didn't get much if not any touches.

Merida N.A

Fabianski - 6 Needless punches were very scary, but he claims the ball very well. Not much of a test really.

Diarra - 7 Surprisingly quick and strong, and full of skill. Looks quite a player.

Song - 6.5 Hahaha. Looks absolutely stoned off his head, and the hair is crazy but he looks decent enough at CB to be fair although there are certainly harder tests than Sheffield United last night.

Hoyte - 7 Absolutely solid.

Gibbs - 6 Thought he was okay, abit quiet really. Nothing special.

Walcott - 7 Should have scored, and his decision making is sometimes a little iffy but it was a decent enough game and some of his runs were breath taking.

Gilberto - 7 This was easy stuff for Gilberto. Lead the team well and saved us from conceding. Was also vital in the box when defending crosses.

Denilson - 8 Brilliant.

Diaby - 4.5 Skills to match any player in the world, but his passing and decision making are sloppy and lazy. Needs to treat every game he is given a chance in like a CL final.

Eduardo - 8 First goal was a beast, and the second was cool and clinical. Once he's properly settled he'll be scoring goals for fun I think.

Bendtner - 7 Good all round game, particularly his hold up play.

It's really hard to rate our centre backs in this game because they hardly had to do anything.

Fabianski- 6.5
Diarra- 8
Song- 7 (got an extra .5 for that hilarious shot at the end)
Hoyte- 7
Gibbs- 7
Walcott- 7
Denilson-7.5
Gilberto- 8
Diaby-5
Eduardo- 8
Bendtner- 7

Diarra, Gilberto and Eduardo are the only performances worth talking about.

Fabianski - 7 - Dodgy when it came to collecting the crosses, otherwise solid even though he was hardly threatened

Diarra - 8.5 - Excellent game

Song - 7.5 - Good, not like he was overly troubled or anything
Had a decent crack on goal aswell

Hoyte - 7.5 - See Song minus shot on goal

Gibbs - 7 - Did well for being out of position. Nice through ball for Eduardo as well

Diaby - 6 - Poor considering the class of his opponents, gave the ball away too many times

Denilson - 8 - Strong game and a good goal

Gilberto - 8 - Model professional once again

Walcott - 7.5 Good game, should have scored, a bit unproductive at times. Wish he played on the left

Bendtner - 7.5 - Strong game.

Eduardo - 8 - Sublimely taken goals and held himself well out there. Worked hard and was very mobile

My Rating's;

Fabianksi - 7. Not a lot to do. Punched one he could have caught but consistently claimed high balls.

Diarra - 8. Gonna be a monster in midifeld!

Gibbs - 7. Not a left back, but did well.

Song - 8. Really impressive performance. Strong as an ox and has a truly unbelievable leap on him, better than Toure's!

J.Hoyte - 7. Played well, Song took the lead role and he just mopped up using his excellent ground-speed.

Walcott - 6. Nothing special from Theo. A moment of brilliance followed by a moment of ineptitude. Should have scored.

Diaby - 5. Coasted through the match and played like he thought he was too good for both the opposition and the competition.

Denilson - 8. Good. He needs to add a bit more energy to his game but Fabregas had this problem a year or two ago and has improved beyond recognition

Gilberto - 7. Played and led well. Although you can see how he really does slow our play down.

Bendtner - 8. Started like a house on fire, everything he did came off. After the break he found it a bit more difficult, but the rest of the team did as well. Oozed class. Gonna be one hell of a player.

Eduardo - 8. Electrifying finish for the first. Movement was awesome, link-up was awesome, awareness was you guessed it...awesome. His second finish really reminded me of Van Nistelrooy, it was just a given it was going in.

All in all a good performance, where we totally embarrassed a poor team, playing in second gear.

Fabianski 7 - Did look nervy on a couple of occasions, but did well with what he had to do and that save from 8 yards out, rather like the Martins effort.

Diarra 8.5 - Really cant fault this player, not only out of position but stopped pretty much everything. He will be such an asset for us.

Song 6.5 - Not as scary as he used to be for us, but then not as assured as he was for Charlton, really does need to up his game. Nice shot though.

Hoyte 7 - Solid performance from the young Englishman, nothing more nothing less.

Gibbs 7 - Did look shaky at times, but then its to be expected, its been a while since he started. Point added for his assist, what a ball.

Gilberto 8 - Once again the Arsenal rock stopped the Sheffield attackers in their tracks, turned one of the line as well, wont be long till his start in the 1st team picks up again.

Denilson 8.5 - Probably the most improved youngster this year, fully expect him to be making plenty of 1st team starts at the end of this season. What a goal again.

Diaby 6 - Wenger should know by now that Diaby simply cannot play on the wing, he fails just as much as Vieira would have done. Needs to play through the opposition.

Walcott 7 - Quick, pacey and his confidence can be seen as it grows, good shot, unlucky to come away with a goal. Starting to get used to him now.

Bendtner 7 - Held the ball up well, was vital in the opener. Real strong physical player who has a touch of deftness to his game when sheer brute force isnt working.

Duda 9 - Wonderful first goal, assured 2nd goal.Real poacher and took his chances well, is settling in faster than most expected. Cant wait for him to fully get in to the rhythm as I also think he'll start scoring for fun when he gets going. So glad we bought him.

he really doesnt. i turned the game on 15 minutes in and only saw him 4 or 5 times until half time iirc . but when he pops up he makes them count; thats what its all about really when youre at a new club. well need him saturday in some capacity surely.

Arsenal Quotes

No one could have imagined for a single second that he would come to us. Only David Dein, Sol, his agent, and I knew what was going on. When I called a press conference to announce the arrival of a new player, and Sol Campbell walked into the room full of journalists, it was a bombshell.
