The New League - By The Mini

Traditionally, the Premier League has been a two horse race between Man Utd. and another team (usually Arsenal), but the ‘03-’04 season has brought an interesting format.

Now instead the red side of Manchester ruling the roost, it’s now the London lot, with Arsenal and Chelsea (aka Chelski) battling for the top, followed by Manchester United, acting by the annoying little brother.

Now it gets interesting, instead Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle trying to chase the top pack (or pair), it’s now become Fulham, Southampton, Charlton, Birmingham and yes… Newcastle.

Then comes Liverpool, desperately clawing, but whatever bird is on their crest, it doesn’t seem to have very good claws. But as their saying goes “you’ll never walk alone”, they don’t because surprise package and campaign ruiner Bolton follow. In the current table (13/11/03) Middlesbrough follow, but this team are the indecisive team, running up and down the league.

It becomes reasonably recognisable from there on, with Blackburn definatly under-achieving. Next big surprise would be Everton, on the basis of last-seasons performance, they finished as the surprise package last season, ending Arsenal’s unbeaten run and coming out with a 16-year-old sensation. They now hover close to the relegation zone.

But arguably the shock of the season so far is Leeds, famed for better things, have slowly slumped and are now 19th and almost certain for relegation, and even administration.

It is well known the referees are protected very well like the lions in the zoo so we have to live with their decisions
