Arsenal are chasing Rennes midfielder Tongo Hamed Doumbia.

The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the best emerging talents in France and Gunners scouts have alerted Arsène Wenger about the possibility of a transfer.

Doumbia is 6ft 3in and can play in the centre or on the right. Rennes were willing to sell for around £8million but interest from Russian clubs CSKA and Spartak Moscow could increase the price.

Wenger is wary of paying over the odds but sees Doumbia as decent value.
Never heard about him till today. Another legless rumour or has he got any decent qualities?

Don't think we really need a defender unless its a top attacking right back or someone who can cover both full back spots. Not a priority though.

Well, for starters, he's a midfielder not a defender. But other than that, I don't know anything about him.

Definitely would be a cheaper option than M'Vila, but I know nothing about him. Is he another "The Next Vieira"?

We've had a couple of "next Vieiras" before, Diaby and Muamba

Rather than buying the "next whoever" why not buy the "real thing"

Exactly - my use of quotes was meant to imply my skepticism.

Never heard of him, which means he's a certainty to get signed up.
Never heard of him
Never played in the EPL
He plays in the French league
He is inexperienced
He is cheap
He can keep Squillaci and Chamakh company on the bench

which means he's a certainty to get signed up

Oops! Anyways think i'd rather someone more experienced, unless this guy is very good. We've loads of young midfielders, i'd like us to sign someone around the 26/27 age mark.

If he can't he can soon learn while he's sitting watching the game on the sidelines with all the other French bargains that can't get a game
