Emery: "We did good work. They shoot a lot because they have a lot of attacking players."

Emery seems to be aware of the focus on our record of shots conceded.

Could've scored 3-4 more tbh

Looked like we could've conceded that many as well

With the squad we have at the moment, an away win is always something special lol!

As always, wide open at the back and the midfield struggled to cover. The 3 points are just the best thing of the evening.

Give it time. I think it makes sense on one hand... On the other, we need a DMF’er, and Xhaka is not that man.

I don't think we can afford to try this until January though, which would be earliest to bring in another DM. Too many potential dropped points. It's very clear watching matches even in real-time that we have a problem not just with individual errors in our backline, but also propensity for those errors significantly increased because of lack of protection in front of the backline. How can we be relying on Xhaka as the only player for (token) protection?

Thought we were a bit lucky to be 1-0 up with ten minutes remaining. Not a bad performance, but didn't look like we were in control. Loved the potential in the performances of Saka and Martinez, top quality.

Granted I only watched casually as I was teaching two classes, but Emi looked like he made some excellent saves. Very happy to see it!

Missed the game and only just got in. Watched the score on my phone 0-3. Fairly convincing away win.

Guessing the Emery vitriol is on hold.

Not really, everyone is happy with the result, the kids and martinez doing well and 3 points away from home but don't think anyone is impressed with the team performance, yet again we were opened up at will and were rather lucky to face the one team more open than us

Overall its a shame you missed it, was two teams with no structure going at it

how can we win 3-0 away from home against a decent team so easily in europe and we can't beat the worst PL team away from home to save our lives?

Well, Emery is an EL specialist. The sport somehow and for some mysterious reason works differently between different competitions.

Not at all. We've allowed about 55 shots in the last two games.

Frankfurt's shooting was abysmal, another team with identical opportunites could have put 4 or 5 past us today.

Still many positives to take away though, especially on attack

Torreira breaking up play in front of defence at the start of last season was the one reason I believed we’d comfortably finish top 4 again. Then he switched to a back 3 and pushed Torreira higher.

What Emery’s trying to do by exerting more pressure through advancing players higher up the pitch is a mammoth risk.

One ball over the top and we have 5 players taken out of the game. Refs in Europe give us way more free kicks and that’s the only reason he gets away with it there.
