Emery is no Wenger, he will play strongest line up with maybe 2 or 3 changes, he takes this competition seriously. Unfortunately.

After last year's blunder I expect Emery to play his squad sensibly this year. If he plays entire first team again then this squad will be burnt down by March and we will again drop points towards end for top4. Taking Europa league seriously is a big risk, we should give kids and backup sqaud a run. At least for the group stage, he can use key players towards later stages.

Why should he play a weak squad? The season just started, and nobody bar Auba and Leno deserves any break.

We played almost first team for all competitions last year including the Mickey mouse league Cup. And we know how the results went in last few months of the season when we could have easily finished top-4.

Squad of 25 is given to rotate wisely also players like Willock, Nelson,Torreira,Chambers needs more game time. There is no reason to play Xhaka-Guendo here again. I would keep Pepe in as he is yet to gel into the squad and more games will help.

ESR,Martinelli and Saka should also get few minutes in. We should also be brave and try Martinez as GK in EL/League Cup to keep him sharp in case Leno breaks down suddenly. Risk is minimal during first 2-3 EL games we can use better squad if situation demands. Using 7-8 first team players in this game would be stupidity.

Mustafi should never play another game for us.

Martinez
Chambers Holding Luiz Saka
Xhaka [c] Torreira
Willock
Smith-Rowe Pépé Nelson

With Xhaka due to be on paternity leave in October, and his general durability, we should play him here. No need for a rest.

As part of their reintegration, bring Holding and Smith-Rowe off at the hour mark.

Give some game time to Martinelli in the front three in the second half.

Pépé through the middle excites me. I actually think he might have a long-term future there, similar to how Auba played his first few years as a wide forward before converting.

At the end of season. 4th place or Europa? remember 4th place won't get you pot 1 wheres europa league will.

We're easily making it out of this group, as well as beating whoever we face in the next stage.

EL is altogether pointless until the semis.
Then losing to the first competent and motivated team we meet, after picking 3 defensive midfielders.

Why is the **** resting Özil to manage his workload when the Spanish **** doesn't even pick him for league games?

Özil hasn't played a game before Watford and he looked not sharp. Great to see Holding back
