    • Arsenal beat BATE 4-2 (a), 6-0 (h) last season
    • BATE lost twice to Chelsea in the group stage
    • BATE wrapped up their 13th Belarusian league title in a row – and 15th overall – in November. They are now one shy of the European record for consecutive league titles, held jointly by Latvia's Skonto and Lincoln of Gibraltar
    • Aleksandr Hleb is enjoying his fifth spell at BATE (1999–2000, 2012–13, 2015, 2016, 2018–). The 37-year-old midfielder played for Arsenal from 2005–08, making 130 appearances, including the 2006 UEFA Champions League final against Barcelona, the club he joined from the Gunners two years later.
    • Shkodran Mustafi made his senior debut in Everton's 1-0 UEFA Europa League group stage defeat at home to BATE in December 2009. The then 17-year-old came on as a substitute in the second half.

Sokratis still out, could be back for the 2nd leg
    Ramsey & Xhaka doubts
    Mavropanos not in the squad

With no game at the weekend, this is a good opportunity to go full strength and wrap the tie up before resting players in the 2nd leg. Don't think Mkhitaryan will start again so soon after injury so it's a good chance for Suarez to make his full debut.

Not having Auba in the EL last season still irks me. Hope he can tear it up against the fodder this time.

Really annoys me you have Mustafi and Kos the wrong way around in the OP. 3/10.

Thought maybe Musti would be a bit less crap if he moved to the other side.

Apologies though for the OP, couldn't find a picture of the BATE badge on fire.

Why isn't Mavropanos in the squad to play, any particular reason?

The squad was limited due to only having 7 HG players in it, so Mavro had to miss out. If Emi Martinez hadn't gone on loan, the club would've been able to register him.

Hopefully that’s the formation and we don’t see any of that three at the back bollocks.

Too bad he isnt in the squad, I reckon this game would have been a handy game to play him in, in place of Mustafi perhaps.

Emery won't rest players here. With the team having the weekend off he can effectively win the tie here (any win or even a score-draw should be enough) and think about resting players in the return game.

He’s probably had this thread drafted for weeks, reputation in tatters so using a gimme in Belarus to prop up his win percentage and still gets the XI wrong. Sad.

Surprised you're still knocking about on here after your City performance. No shots on target after the 38th minute was it?

Tbh, that result seems good after what they have done to Chelski..You will have to give it to him.

(4-3-3) Leno; Jenkinson Mustafi Koscielny Monreal; Torreira Guendouzi Ramsey; Suarez Aubameyang Lacazette please (assuming Ramsey is fit)

Hopefully we can pretty much end the tie in the first leg

Arsenal are on a run of five successive clean sheets in Europa. One more will break the all-time UEFA Europa League record that they currently share with Napoli and Salzburg.

Our weak defence can make history. What a time to be alive.

Europa League is actually the only competition we're in that I get excited about these days. #Hope
