Sir Alex was the ultimate Alpha male. All the other managers in the league unfortunately just ***** in his shadow. The GOAT.

Ferguson let his best players kinda do what they want too, the likes of Cantona and Ronaldo could do what they want, within reason of course.

Didn’t Stam call him out in his book, hands were tied there really...Beckham was probably past his best when he dumped him out too, Arsène was always good at knowing when a player was coming to the end too.

Funny how everyone says footballers where mentally stronger, and more natural leaders (eg , more manly!) back then...but they apparently have more player power now, and managers have to tip toe around them, despite most being very “robotic” of and on the pitch...shouldn’t logically that be the other way round

Yeh its a recipe for disaster... management didnt used to be so much about keeping every particular fairy on board, the dressing room had its leaders and it governed itself.

There arent many one club men anymore, now players are extremely individual and the only thing they are loyal to is their agents (which they sometimes change when they want to push for a transfer )

I'm worried about the direction football is going in. Looks like there is less power for the clubs/fans and more for players/agents. I don't think its good for the game.

Because the game has grown, a players value has grown, they are their own brand etc. You’re not signing Roy Keane for 2M anymore from Nottingham Forest you’re signing Pogba for 100M and paying him 300K a week.

The tide starting to change under Ferguson himself, with Beckham becoming the first real power player in English football.
