People putting "none" instead of Saka at young player of the season speaks volumes about Wenger's legacy of normalizing using very young players as regular starters ffs

Saka is the same age as players like Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson, two players who keep being mentioned in the media as players with huge potential etc.
Yes but saka has over 250 games. This is palmer first season as senior player. Young is linked with experienced as well. No one would call sake in experienced. Palmer is

I'm not a big one for these types of things. That being said, Ben White deserves more plaudits than he is getting so far in this thread.

He's been outstanding on the right for us, both defensively and going forward. On set pieces he has been a major reason why we've done so well.

Top man.

The official PL YPOTS has nothing to do with experience. As I said earlier if that's the criteria here then it makes sense why he's omitted but he'd 100% qualify for the official one.

He's had about as good a season as I can remember an Arsenal player having at right back. But there have been a lot of really great performances all over the pitch and it's hard for a right back to stand out. Has one ever won Arsenal's POY?

Then kindly exit my thread.
Now now, lets not get uppity here. My point, and perhaps I should have elaborated, is that to pick one player as the best of the season quickly verges on a popularity contest.

My intention was not to disavow the thread in its *entirety*

A "Young player of the year" for me would like...

Kolo Toure in his second season here, cementing himself at CB in our Invincible year.
Cesc Fabregas making 50 apps as a 17 year and helping us win the cup in 2005.
Super Jack's breakout year in 2011.
Big Saliba's season before last, when his career looked finished here and he stole the show.
Etc.

...not someone like Saka even if he is quite young still, he's already well established.

Bukayo is universally seen as our best/most famous current player, PFA young player of the year last season, Arsenal's MAIN player of the year 3 years ago ffs and has already starred at 2 international tournaments for his country.

I don't care what the "official Premier League requirements" are, he's not a young player for me anymore lol 😅

In my mind if you win the Young Player of the year award once, then you shouldn't be allowed to be nominated for it again...plus the age rate needs to drop to like 21 or something, players like Isak being on it is a pisstake.

We lost the league around Christmas. 1 point out of 9 was always going to cost any team trying to beat City to the title. You have to give yourself a buffer when it gets to the final 10 games as it's not just about football, it's about psychological impact of the knowing you can't drop points. It affects the team, the manager and the fans. Overall I'm happy with the development of this squad season over season. What I would like for us to improve is our ability to demotivate teams on a football pitch. That could only come with being more ruthless in front of goal. Yes, there would be missed chances but the games we lost were simply down to us giving back the momemtum in games where we were clearly superior. We need to stop or minimize that.
