Why would Klopp factor in with Jones if he’s
not there next season?

Been part of their academy too, can’t see him leaving when a starting spot here is far from a guarantee.

On John Cross, nah not buying his insights, particularly upfront.

Its clear that we need quality in tight spaces upfront. What Havertz gives us is energy and movement into space, off the ball. We need more dribbling and work on the ball.

I still think we are in for a forward, or a wide player than can play as a forward as well.

Someone mentioned it, and I searched it, and apparently Bilbao doesn't buy players for big money, and uses only Catalan players.

So they pay huge wages for them. Williams' contract was ending, so he had the upper hand, just like Nelson and Nketiah did for Arsenal. Now everyone is happy, and Bilbao will get a fee plus his performances this season.

I found it hard to believe too, but I could not find a low wage for him after the renewal. I think it was Matt Law who said it is well over 100k after tax.
It’s Basque. A section of my dissertation at university was about Athletic Bilbao’s approach to preserving their culture. But yeh as you said even within the situation which their approach brings, teams outside of the PL (other than the elite clubs) barely even break 100k never mind reach 200k. So it’s over double what I was thinking.

He was leaving on a free transfer. They offered him 10m/year with a 50m release clause. Most likely this gets triggered in a year or two. Its a good deal for all parties.

Arsenal Quotes

In June 1996, David Dein, Peter Hill-Wood and Danny Fiszman came out to Nagoya to meet me on behalf of Arsenal. Within an hour we came to an agreement. The Japanese directors didn't try to keep hold of me in the usual way but talked with persuasive arguments... But as far as I was concerned, the decision was taken. Arsenal. A decision that would change my life.
