I don’t hate it actually just means there’s yet MORE football games to be played.

The group format is usually pointless by games 5 & 6 and at least this way a load of teams will be scrapping for a playoff place.

Just wished they’d held the semis as one off games with the final in one city like they did with the Covid CL.

More games are inevitable, clubs have to make the revenue somehow to pay for player wages.

A salary cap is needed.

They did that to stop super league.

Would be more less complicated if they do it the American way first 16 teams who finish in table go to next round and the after that make a draw normal way or 1st placed in table play 16th placed 2nd vs 15th and so on. This play in thing is just waste of time.

Yeah I think these clubs are making enough money hand over fist that they don’t need more games to pay wages.

Just the problem is the team who play European football will need very big squad because you looking to play 50+ games.

38 in league 8 in CL plus cup games and depend on how far you go it may reach 60 games.

Looks quite fun tbh. Will make the group stages more meaningful, and seeded knockouts should lead to better matchups later on.
