A player who very clearly has struggled to return to his best following a bad knee injury, but regularly gets abuse on here.

He’s obviously not been good the last 16 months, but there’s reasons for it. Attitude, quality or hunger certainly aren’t any of the issues here IMO.
The frustration from fans is understandable.

The derisory abuse from posters like this is plain weird - it exposes these people's own insecurities:
According to some here this joke of a player is 'quality' whilst he has 4 goals playing as a striker for a genuine contender. I can't even advocate selling as no one will buy him. Another pepe who we'll end up releasing eventually. Forget playing for Brazil, he won't even get in the Bangladesh team

He's still useful but nowhere near holding a starting place. Depends on his surgery goes now.

Apparently calling out a striker for scoring 4 goals in a season playing for a great team exposes people's own insecurities. The things one could learn from being on AM

I think he had enough “wow” moments in his first season here to warrant not giving up on him. I think it’s the midfield signing this summer that will elevate us to that new level

Jesus is too fragile and not close to reliable enough to be first choice. He should be backing up Saka tbf. Sign a number 9 to replace Eddie and to share time with Kai.

His G/A per 90 minutes was better than last season. In fact, it's the exact same as Trossard, a player most people would say had a good season. Literally the only issue is his fitness. He did this while perpetually returning to fitness all season and playing different positions.

People need to show some patience. Or at the very least, don't champion surface level goal stats as a reason to slate him when he's barely played.

Yeah it’s just lazy posting done to prove their agenda. He’s clearly had 18 months of struggles with his knee injury. Been in and out the team constantly. What’s the point in looking at his stats in this time?

Anyway he was never a prolific goalscorer but pre MCL he was doing decent numbers all while showing elite general play (dribbling, hold up play, link up play). He’s not gonna suddenly become a top finisher while struggling with fitness.

The concern is if he will ever return to what he was before the injury, that explosiveness and aggression he had was incredible.

4 goals in 11 starts during an injury hit season sounds a lot different doesn't it?

A joke of a player? Wouldn't get in the Bangladesh team? Bringing up Pepe? You're going above and beyond to convey what is really just fear of a missed opportunity. In which case just say that instead of dragging the guy with nonsense.

Martinelli has also had a difficult season with numbers that are probably worse. But we're a team that shares the goals. Our forwards a ball winning machines who create turnovers for others. You know this.

I'm not trying to shame you. I've read a lot of your posts and the quality of your posting is far better than that.

Well when you just keep shouting 4 goals! Without taking anything else into consideration then yes it does very much look like an agenda.

Most people have accepted Jesus isn't clinical enough or robust enough to be our first choice CF. As a squad player he might be very useful though. His issue this season has mainly been injuries. He started less than half our league games and only completed 90 minutes in just 4 games. He only played 1482 minutes in total. In those minutes he has 4g and 5a. Which actually isn't horrendous, especially if you consider players take time after injury to get back to their best. I guess just shouting he has 4 goals and ignoring he hasn't played much or when he did he wasn't even 100% is disingenuous at best.

Also he has 4 goals in 4 starts in the Champions League, a very good return but of course you will ignore that too.

Hopefully he has a good rest and/or surgery this summer so he can contribute next season mainly from the bench.

Yeah, trying to use Jesus numbers against him isn't particularly smart because if you really dig into his numbers, his G/A per 90 put him up there with some of the best, and I'm not talking about current stars but all-time in the PL.
And let's not even talk about his numbers in the CL.
He's statistically one of the best Brazilians to play in the competition and a lot Brazilian greats have played in it.

People are perfectly justified to be concerned about his fitness issues since that knee injury but in terms of impact he's still one of our best players.
If we can get him back to being fully fit we'll be in a great spot next season.

No point selling him now. Would be lucky to get 15M for him probably with his high wages and injury problems. Keep him and see if he can come back fully fit and firing next season. If he does he adds a lot. If not, flog him to Italy or back to Brazil next summer.

Patience🤔

😁 It's not really a quality a lot of AMs seem to have.

People are on the chopping block way to soon.

I do totally get having concerns about him due to recent injuries.

However imho he should not be written off just yet.

Good option across the front if he can get back to fitness.
