Yeah, people got excited over Cesc at such a young age...was that unwarranted???

Same with Merida.

Anyways, always great to sign a young prospect.

This is from The Mirror...

GUNNERS GET 'NEW' THIERRY

Arsène WENGER was last night told he has signed European football's best prospect - who could be the new Thierry Henry.
French prodigy Gilles Sunu will join Arsenal when he turns 16 next month from tiny Chateauroux, whose vice chairman Patrick Trotignon said: "He plays as an out-and-out striker like Thierry Henry, but he also can play in midfield.
"Gilles is lightning quick and he has great technical skills. But the key is that he is very intelligent, older than his years.

I don't know about Europe's best prospect but it's all good no matter what.

Hmmm...

I always thought Walcott was gonna be our new Thierry when Wenger moved him up front.

Seems Sunu and Walcott will be fighting it out for that position.

Just to point out, nobody's branded this kid 'the new Henry' that doesn't work for the Daily Mirror. The Chateauroux chairman said he plays like Henry, which is a different thing altogether - the rest just sounds like marketing guff to me.

Hooray. Another youngster.

Just what we need. We need to start winning trophies now, not in 2023.

You are right, we should shut down our acadamy system altogether. That way, in around 50 years time we can save enough money to buy Sanu at 24yrs old rather than Sanu at 16.

according to Sky, the fee for Sunu is between 0.6M-2.7M.

2.7M!! For a boy just reaches his sixteen.

The Chateauroux Under 16s (Nationaux of Berrichonne?), were taken along by Domenica Bougras after they were invited to go to Arsenal for a friendly match against their Under 16s Thursday 24th Feburary. Chatearoux were 2-1 winners against the Gunners, who had not lost since the beginning of the season.

Found this in the news archive of the Chateauroux website from the 24th of Feburary. Coincidence or what...? A good way to sweeten the deal, methinks...

Picture of Sunu - He doesn't look 15/16 at all - Very sturdy and tall for his age imo. http://www.berrichonne.net/page.php?pag ... newsid=588
They could all be midgets! He does look fairly well developed though, which should make it easier for him to break into the senior team. If Wenger is paying that much cash for him, I'd be surprised if he isn't (at least) going to play in the carling cup next season.

// Edit - according to footballdatabase.com, he is 180cm and 81kg. So he is well built, and a decent height, just under 6 foot.
