Introduction - Whit's A' This, Then?

These match reports originated on the old AVV Mania Forum - just something to post, to get discussion going. The first one I did was on the Community Shield - ridden with horrendous and loosely connected cliches as I recall. I think I used the phrase "Beaten all ends up" when describing Gilberto's goal without any evident shame.

Anyhow, one or two people read them. And I'd like to think they got better over time (Because, let's face it, they could hardly get much worse), which resulted in a column on the forum - here, actually. Recently I've been concentrating on articles which cover a wider area than just an account of each match. Because I 1. Enjoy them more, 2. Have sufficiently limited range to drive me to distraction and weird outbursts of pseudo-creativity and 3. Enjoy droning on for pages and pages in a pretentious fashion.

Basically, I write under these rules -

-Write about an incident exactly how you see it.

-Never, ever be objective, if at all possible. I'm a fan for god's sake, and I intend to act like one

-Always defend and stick up for your opinions

-If a discussion is started on a particular point, good.

-If an argument is started, even better

So in a nutshell, this is basically a front for me to rant about anything I please.

Hopefully you'll drop in and have a shuftie now and again; hell, you could even post on the forum and tell me what a philistine, cretin, disgrace, obscene example to kids everywhere etc. etc. I am.

As I said, dissent and discussion is good - if a debate can be got going after every game or article, I'll have done my job. Personally, I always find the opinions of a journalist, columnist, pundit etc. infinitely more interesting than some dull analysis, even if I don't agree with a word of what is said.

Enjoy.
