YES! FIFA wants RED card for diving asap

Yellow will suffice. A red doesn't allow room for mistakes by the ref.

The problem with diving is that you never really know if it was actually a dive or a serious foul. Not all players go down the same way. Some go down easier, while others are rocks. There's always a grey area of certainty for a ref.

Video Ref? Sure, if you want to have frequent stops and commercial breaks for every foul. That is one the best things about football. It's always flowing and there are very few breaks in play.

Remember also one thing. In Serie A they tried a rule that every fall in the penalty box is either a penalty kick or a dive. It most certainly isn't. I think that this will confuse lot of the ref.

in theory a good idea but it's implementation will be much harder to do properly. maybe video evidence should be used to aid it. sometimes it can be rather easy to interpret a slight knock causing a player to fall for a dive. Take for example when thierry is running at a defender full flight. If the defender gets even the slightest of touches on him he will go flying merely because he was running so fast. However his fall (albeit unintentional) caused by what may seem a tiny touch by a defender may fool a ref and cause him to be sent of.
in your thierry example, he wouldn't be rolling on the ground like a ball. he would quickly try to get up and continue his run like he always does when defenders knock him down.

Refs have stopped giving yellow cards for diving now as it's become such a natural part of the game. They just tell the player to get up and I think most refs are scared to book a player for diving in case they get it wrong or they will then have to book every player in the match who looks like they have dived. No-win situation really.

Gaha, what a ridiculous jump this is.

So a player goes down in the area, and is sent off for diving, which is shown after to be a nick on his ankle and therefore a pen and no card. SAME F**KING PROBLEM AS EVER. A good ref will wave play on if a player goes down too easy, and book him if he blatently dives over looking for pens/getting players cards.

This isn't a solution, it's a typical knee jerk reaction to the flavour of the month problem. Utter guff.

Diving so not the immense problem that the moral majority claim it is tbh. Anyone who thinks it is is watching highlights, and not full games.

Agree Ratinho although the idea behind it is novel it still suffers from the same problem as all human laws that is they are interepreted by humans and are subject to a persons opinion which will differ. This will just lead to unfair decisions again and if it does occur will be scrapped post haste.

i think retrospective suspensions for diving would be a better idea than giving a red card

most definitely. they rescind red cards on video evidence, why not give them out? its the only viable option really; the first person gets sent off wrongly and then weve got another ****storm of people wanting another rule change back to where we are now.

Arsenal Quotes

I believe the target of anything in life should be to do it so well that it becomes an art.
When you read some books they are fantastic, the writer touches something in you that you know you would not have brought out of yourself. He makes you discover something interesting in your life.
If you are living like an animal, what is the point of living? What makes daily life interesting is that we try to transform it to something that is close to art. And football is like that.
