Oddly I don't feel a sense of doom about playing City because we generally always give Pep a game. Pep has all of the same flaws that Arsène does but he's been able to cover them up with extraordinary squads which he does not have this season.

Great time to get condescending with people who disagree with you when your chosen starting 11, that you advocated so strongly earlier in this thread just lost this so-called must-win game...

How did Walcott look in the game? Like the streaky player he's always been? A player you were so keen to see start over Lucas. Last time I checked, Lucas scored a hat-trick away in Europe. You're only as good as your last match...

Lucas is a substantially superior footballer to Walcott and he's had to sit on the bench and watch him play **** and his team lose only a couple of days after his last starting opportunity.

Next another person will say that players earn a handsome wage and so should be able to play twice a week. Whenever that old chestnut comes up, you know that the person arguing against rotation is resorting to straw man arguments.

Ramsey was a well-paid man when he got tackled by Shawcross, so I suppose he should have just reminded himself of his salary and run it off...

You're chatting **** dude. There's no two ways about it. Now is not the time to promote your Rotation Sect.

We lost the game and it certainly wasn't because of rotation. Lucas isn't a far superior footballer to Walcott, they're in fact much alike, good finishers and not very good under pressure. Lucas scored vs a pub team in a deadrubber, well ****ing done. Walcott was the right choice because he has played in England for years and knows how these games go, he also had a fine game against Stoke.

You guys are way too sensitive. I guess for the most of you it's just internet banter but to call one of our own players for a f****** oaf is just disgraceful. Calm your titties and move on. Every team will drop points.

The damage was done in the first half. Thro can't dribble and so can't carry the ball up the pitch. Ox was better but with little impact. Özil was poor. Nothing worked but he was so deep to get the ball at times and only Alexis offered himself. Alexis worked hard but it was his losing the ball in attack that lead to the Everton winner. Xhaka played a few good balls forward but he was quite static at times and still rash kn the tackle at times. We showed no urgency until we were behind and then precious little composure. We were fouled and as Wenger said we lost a few balls in a physical game. He mentions Mesut missing the goals and says Everton's physicality disrupted us. He says we fought and can't fault the players attitude.
Watch every team go uber physical against us now. The trouble is that only Coq and Alexis can match this. The reality is that we didn't take our chances.

Conviction. The difference between trying to shoot on target and a clinical finish.
Exactly. Iwobi does the right thing by keeping it low and hard towards the corner, but the real killers like Alexis manage to see that the player is there and adjust. Just the little differences that count for so much.

The stone that the builders refuse
sadly we invite them after we scored their stadium was so quite and their players seemed down in confidence
That's just what I said - If we'd got a 2nd there then who knows what might have happened but we went into sit deep mode and kind of allowed Everton to take over.

Everton's tactics were quite simple but effective and Lukaku, although not scoring was a handful.

It sounds strange to say this but it was one of our better losses however, we should have tried to get more crosses into the box once Giroud came on.

We bought Perez to be our extra striker if you don't bring when we need a goal to win us the game where you gonna bring him then? Wenger should have bought him on for the invisible Özil before Everton scored. Also our front line was so poor today apart from Alexis who was running and trying Walcott and Ox were losing the ball so much

Like the PSG 1-1 or the 1-4 against Hull. Chance fell to the wrong guy sadly.

I really wish we'd stop with this attitude of 'all we need is Chelsea to drop ____ points'. Newsflash lads: they will drop those points. Heck, if Costa gets injured, they may drop a hell of a lot more than what we need them to.

The only thing that stops us winning the league is ourselves and nights like tonight. We need to focus on our own game and be ready to capitalise on opportunity. Chelsea will drop enough points to lose the league to us - will we take advantage? That is the only question that stands between us and the title. Nights like this are too frequent for us at the business end of the season and we need to stamp them out.

I can't disagree with Wenger, was indeed a physical game and Everton with a good crowd behind them had the better of us in that regard.

Seriously what's the obsession with Lucas? Am I missing something because to me he's very average from what I've seen

It's embarrassing really.

The guy looks like a fine player and I like him, but to think that he would've been the difference tonight shows a clear lack of understanding the game.
