We haven't been top 4 quality during his time here. That's not to say he is solely responsible but he is part of the problem.

Perhaps there's some permutation of team where he can start and you get top 4 but feels like there are a lot more with a different CM in his place...

Then why the f*ck are you saying it? such a tedious argument that holds zero credibility whatsoever. Repetitive nonsense that has been circulated by the usual clowns who've been saying that he's our worst midfielder and now that his importance in the team has been solidified, it's the only "argument" they clinch too.

Back it up with why he is top 4 material then. Explain why City, Liverpool, Chelsea or United would want him.

It's a super easy argument though, Liverpool have plodders running in midfield and are winning everything. See no reason why Xhaka couldn't do similar if backed with a good coach and teammates.

However, the onus is on @Sanchez11's ghost to back his shallow statement, but he's an one-liner merchant so as expected not much coming from his end.

Why am i saying that a mainstay in our midfield during our period not making CL is partly responsible for that period?

Yes, your first sentence.

He has been our captain and the CM with most appearances in the period since he signed. He has put in many mediocre performances, some good and some bad. With a combination of other CM he has not been part of a team capable of getting into top 4 while being the dictator of play in those teams.

To absolve him of all responsibility for team performance or to lump it all on him would both be unreasonable. Like I said in a prior post, he's not bad he's just not good enough and the evidence is there for all to see in our league positions.

I never said anything about him being our worst CM

Like I also said. Perhaps you can fit him in a CL capable team but it feels like it would be easier to just replace him

Coolin

Doesn't appreciate the mighty Nacho
He’s so average. Today he was just getting the ball and passing it back to our CBs. That’s not what we’re paying 100k -a-week for. He’s supposed to get the ball, turn and find our forwards. Instead it’s Luiz knocking balls over the top, while he’s hacking guys in midfield.

Doesn't need to be said does it though? Massive body of evidence to show he's not that good of a player. Back then we though we were building a team to achieve something though.

More Consistent Than Arteta
How many wins with Xhaka now after return from the pandemic time. 4 games , 4 wins, 3 clean sheets, 3 wins away games, 1 goal conceded

And yes he does make those around look better, The best in PL
well played mate ... fans are fans...true fans are rare... you stuck to your guns ... fair play.

Henderson 100%. The other two aren’t guaranteed starters. Barkley plays in the cup, Matic is generally a squad player as his legs have gone. Xhaka is no squad player, he’s first on the sheet and occasional captain. Not good enough.
Matic and Barkley are currently in their respective sides first elevens.

So I’ll ask you again, would you take them?
