Another one on Sky as the world can’t wait to see our finest Swiss chocolate football but can we make it 4 W’s on the bounce:

Last 3 games for Fulham:

With their main dangerman being Mitrovic, it will be interesting to see how Saliba deals with him as he’s on hot form right now (Palhinha has looked very solid too):

The team picks itself, so I don’t see any reason to change unless there are injury concerns. We’ll have too much for Fulham and Gabriel Jesus will score 2 in this one imo.

Going for a 3-0 win with Leno helping our title charge with an OG 🔴⚪

I think Zinchenko will be fine Partey is someone we need to treat carefully.

Still we don't need to take risk if Zinchenko isn't ready

Watched the game in a pub in Prague, and not only delighted with the result, but also delighted with two things

1. They dig it out. Last year we'd have lost, ir maybe fluked a draw.. and been happy with it

This season we pushed on and won

2. We know we need more. They will realise that and pay this week for it

Top of the table, half drunk.. come on you Gunners
Enjoy! I was there for our first game of the season, beautiful city. Tomas Rosicky is based there now too, I’ve heard locals often casually see him down the pub

I think it’s all matches.

How the hell does this work when Wenger was winning titles. 🤣🤣

Maybe all competitions there no way this is in league. That's why I'm surprised

It’s all games, I think that stat is padded by EL wins.

It’s only PL games. 20 games after taking over from Emery + 38 + 38 + 4 = 100.

Wenger just had a lot more draws and a more balanced league.

23 wins was enough to win the 97-98 title. We had 22 last year in a ‘bad’ year last year with only 3 draws and it meant 5th. And post-City/Chelsea money it’s been nearly impossible to win the league with less than 28 or so wins.

True but Arsène lucked out big time by walking into the best back 5 in the league.
If he had walked into the shambles defence Arteta had to deal with Arsenes magic attacking dust would not have been as successful.
Rubbish. That defence finished 12th in 1995, they were drinking a lot too. The thing is Arsène didn't need to get all his own team, he worked with what he had and licked them into shape. It was only later he broke them up and built an even better defence that had an invincible run

Odd cherry picking there.

Arsenal were the best defensive team in the PL in 2 of the 3 seasons before Wenger arrived, including the season directly before.

That 12th place finish was 2 years pre-Wenger. The year before we were 5th and 1st defensively.

In the 5 seasons before Arsène arrived that backline finished an average of 5.1. If they were so good would they have finished 10th and 12th?

In the 5 seasons after, that backline finished average of 1.8. And the games per goal conceded improved from 1.1 to 1.28.

No cherry picking.

Good game from Arsenal this. The result doesn't really give it justice imo. So many chances and at times complete domination of the ball. Fair play to Fulham though, they defended quite well and were definitely prepared in how to eliminate the spaces for Arsenal to create chances. In the end though, it was only a matter of time before the goals came.

Love the mentality in this current team as well. You really see the desire to win even when they are stricken back. Come a long way since the banter era where the slightest sign of resistance could end in full capitulation. Still plenty of room to improve obviously, but you have to be bloody pessimistic not to enjoy the current shape Arsenal is in.

LOL, you've got to be kidding me.

This was a discussion about the fact that Wenger inherited an elite defensive team with an elite defensive back line.

In an attempt to dispute that, you cherry-picked the team's overall record from a single season multiple years before Wenger arrived.

In the 5 years before Wenger arrived, the team went 4-2-1-8-1 defensively in the league. He inherited the best defensive team in the PL.

If you want to talk about the offensive squad that Wenger inherited and what he did to improve the team in that way, totally different discussion. But the initial claim that Wenger's job was made easier by the fact that he inherited an elite defensive squad/structure is totally 100% correct.

What do people make of the ESR & Fabio Vieria situation now? Even if not fully fit, both Saka and Martinelli weren't at it and they still couldn't get on the pitch when we needed a goal.

Arteta is trying to build chemistry between our attackers and that means giving the first choice combo as much time together as possible. Once they’re cruising then pieces can be swapped in and out.

These quality performances demand that we bring in one two more quality signings and some midfield cover. Let’s stop being satisfied with 4th or 5th. City is only team clearly better, but it is a long season a few bad injuries a couple players having a down year and we could steal a title. If we sign Neto and tilelemans than we are second best team in country, and well positioned to steal it if City hit a slump.

As happy as I am with maximum points, it is terrifying how we are a knock or two from Farmer Mo starting. If this team gets just a little backing we can get 2nd or 3rd and do damage in our domestic and European cups. And who knows the ball is round and game is replete with better teams failing why can’t we be the beneficiary; with a little help we are number 2 and waiting for injuries or complacency to do what it often does to multi champs at some point.
