Wasn't exactly a bad generation for English CBs.

Agree, the one area in football where England are/were really among the top nations as they should be, only clearly superior country for me was Italy if we're talking late 90s/early 2000s.

Thinking about Woodgate made me remember some of the strange transfers Real made in the past, the likes of Gravesen and Julien ******* Faubert played there in the last five to ten years FFS.

Gravesen is a legend  The talentless Pepe.

The Faubert transfer was ****ing hilarious. Not good enough for West Ham? Goes to Real Madrid. The logic is just.. I don't even.

Woodgate was class tbf, I wouldn't say he's far off from Terry or Rio. I wouldn't put him alongside them either, though.

He's probably around the level of someone like Carvalho when he was at Chelsea.

Carvalho was in a complete class of his own for me. Him and Mourinho made Terry look far better than he actually was when he arrived

Arsenal Quotes

When we won the league at Tottenham, they came back 2-2 in the last-minute of the game, and they're celebrating - because they're happy to draw against us, obviously. And I remember saying to Mauricio Tarricco who injured himself celebrating in front of me: "Do you realise we only need a point to be Champions?" And he was utterly shocked. So I said "Yes. Now watch as we're going to celebrate on your pitch. Bye bye!"
