Lol got dismissed as an agenda merchant I wouldn’t say abuse.

I got called chocolate boy lover when I pointed out Tierney's limitations a couple years ago and said Tavares was the better attacker (which was all true and has since been proven).

hmmmm.

Hmmm all you want if you can’t see Tavares can do stuff going forward there’s nothing I can say.

He’s two footed which immediately gives him an advantage over Tierney off rip. Except in defence.
But he is a fullback who can’t defend.

Really? Tierney has shown he can actually score goals for this team. Probably has the highest goals-to-minutes played ratio of any defender at the club (please dont' check that)

I might have been hyperbolic with the whole abuse thing tbf. But the reaction I got was quite surprising considering we all knew Arteta's track record of ruthlessly disposing off a player if the player don't fit his style of player, no matter how good that player is.

Couple of years ago, Tierney was seen as a top 3 LB. His value has tanked so bad now no one is willing to even buy him and we're having to loan him to a second rate laliga club just to get him off the books.

Still think he's a top 5 LB in the PL anyway.

I have a bit of sympathy for Edu though.

It's not an easy job having to clean up after Arteta.

Not knocking Tavares. I think KT as an attacking full-back is much better, unfortunately he's been used as inverted last few seasons and I think that's taken away how good he was under Emery and start of Mikel.

I think even at his best Tierney had cross and maybe the odd pot shot which I even said it at the time so I still disagree.

Tavares early in his Arsenal career and for Marseille (I know French league doesn’t count) showed a larger array of finishes and attacking flair.

I’m just not buying Tierney is such a problem. But freaking Tomiyasu is not. The manager does not like him for whatever reason. But at worst he is our second best lb, could argue the best because Zinchenko is freaking liability
Tierney doesn't fit the inverted role, has been given plenty of chances to prove otherwise, and it's time to move on.

Yeah, I don’t understand why Tierney has been shunted so much. He was one of Mikel’s first names on the team sheet before but I guess the system just doesn’t suit him.

I’d like to think KT just said last year he wants to leave as soon as possible if he wasn’t a starter so Mikel used guys like Tomi instead.

It’s a strange one because KT has everything Mikel supposedly wants in regards to character.

Agree to disagree, KT was also a beast for Celtic which is why we got him here in the first place.

Suppose I see your point of view if we’re strictly talking attacking wise.

I’m strictly talking attacking wise, Tierney is twice the player if we are talking overall package and was captain material.

I don’t agree with his usage or how things have panned out but like I always say, it’s the Arteta show.

The inverted fullback thing better be viable long term. Feels like one of those things that will be found out and become passe quickly but what do I know

Maybe

You're wrong, no?
You watch the game and he stands out but not in a good way. The possession team playing from the back and Tierney absolutely destroys the whole plan.

Can't believe people are surprised by all this, he just doesn't fit, doesn't mean he is bad

I think all the position specialists are in trouble tbh I don’t really think it’s the inverted thing. Tomi plays there and he’s no midfielder (but he is ambidextrous).

You’re much better off being a White who could play 2 or 3 positions in this squad than say Saliba/Gabriel going forward.

When you up against good teams, having your fullback leave so much space and come inside makes you vulnerable. I get if you are up against very defend teams. But even pep who started it realise in the end it’s better to have fullbacks who can actually defend rather than better attackers who are suspect defending

I honestly think Zinchenko is in for a difficult season and the view of him will be very different end of the season.

Tierney is limited, so there was only one way this was going to go.

Watching us play and having him panicking/hoofing the ball up the field was the obvious sign a few years back. You can see Arteta is trying to build a more possession based style rather than the way Tierney is suited to. Anyways good luck to him, I think he’ll do better at a club that fits him.
