I think the expectation, given Ox's level of ability at a young age, was that he would be a nailed on starter. So has his development been a disapointment? Yes I would say his injuries have probably set him back a fair bit. If he can stay fit he will get there though, maybe this season. Wilshere is in the same boat, injuries.

4 years ago what were ox's weaknesses?

What are they today?

Has Ox actually fixed any of his weakenesse in the last 4 years.

If you answer these 3 questions honestly i dont understand how anyone can conclude that he hasnt been a let down. Yes he's had injuries but he's still had enough time to improve something other than his stature.

Nah we should definitely make conclusive judgements about him based on 45 min vs Everton in Singapore. Forget all his great games last season, warm-up friendlies are where its at.
Going off todays game, Chambers should start next to Koscielny, Gibbs is better than Monreal, Cazorla and Ramsey in midfield would work, Wilshere is a waste of space, Giroud is ****, Özil is better than Messi and Chamberlain looks like a player who's playing his second pre-season friendly after 4 weeks sat on the beach.

This is kind of the problem though with Calypso for example. There might be people on here who overrate him saying he's the best young player in his position etc but when people basically say he's dog **** you get a massive debate between people on here who mostly agree on Ox.

And how secure was Cech? Did every single thing right and just made a ridiculous, world-class save in his first start. The title is ours, Cechmate.

True. It's all been said about Chamberlain already - fantastic natural ability, pace, can beat a man, shooting technique, makes bad decisions, head down a lot, first touch and combination play aren't at a high level yet. I'd write that last Summer too, and the year before that. He's been threatening to explode for years. He's also produced some top moments in every season - Milan home was 11/12 and the same year the fans booed Wenger for subbing him at home to United.

He's not where I would expect him to be in all honesty - injuries playing a part there.

Wilshere is even more unfortunate - if you told me after Barcelona that he'd have done as little as he has since, I wouldn't believe you.

Why do you think i'm going off today? You know i'm not going off today yet you still base your points on it which confuses me. Instead of trying to create a straw man argument why couldnt you address my points. What aspect of chamberlains game has gone from bad to good in the last 4 years. I cant think of any.

He has always been a good dribbler only now he's stronger, thats the only improvement i can see from him.

Why do you think I'm replying to you, when I'm clearly replying to Blaze?

You're an idiot.

I thought Ramsey played very well at CM with Santi. Santi was the conductor whilst Ramsey played box-to-box and helped shield the back four. Won the ball back a fair few times and still managed to attack well, some engine on Rambo, in difficult conditions too.

I think a Cazorla/Ramsey midfield is something we'll see a lot this season - especially if Wenger does not buy a midfielder. Cazorla at this point is playing as a slightly more expressive and slightly more mobile Arteta at the base of the midfield, while Ramsey does his usual energetic midfield display and buzzes around him. Ramsey is the perfect foil for that type of midfielder.

Arteta/Ramsey/Özil had us top of the league and playing football from the Cesc days.

Cazorla/Ramsey/Özil could do similar, though I'd like a specialist to come in ala big Javi 'TGG' Martinez.

Do people honestly think a central midfield of Cazorla and Ramsey is going to win us the league?? It's nice to imagine it will work, but in reality you have one CM who thinks he's a striker and a converted CAM who isn't mobile enough nor has the defensive capabilities to play as our deepest CM.

Are we going to completely disregard how much our team transformed with an out and out DM last season? Even if we don't get another top DM come in ala Martinez, Coquelin has to play.

Just because we played well with that pairing in a friendly, against an Everton side dead on their feet, doesn't mean it should be a viable option against any decent side. Pure fantasy stuff. Ramsey-Cazorla in central midfield and Wilshere on the wing? It would be like going back to that god awful 4-1-4-1 clusterfuck at the start of last season. And we all know how that turned out. Just play people in their natural position.
