The myth about having British players as your core is nonsense. If you want to dominate the whole of Europe you funnily enough need good players, not english but players from any origin who are top quality. Only Liverpool ever dominated Europe and the english league witha core of British players and that was a long long time ago. Man utd dominated the english league but have never dominated in Europe, look at Fergie now he is buying a lot more players from abroad. English players are usually over-rated and over-priced so you just can't buy them because most of the time you can't afford it.

The main problem with foreign players is building a team spirit, when Wenger came we had many british players who helped build this. The foreign players were bought in and they mixed well with them and taught those foreign lads the way things go at Arsenal, when the british players left the foreign players who were at the club had inherited the team spirit so adding another face here or there is no problem.

top class english players for a top class side are rare and therefore expensive. it is possible to get cheaper foreign players of equal or even greater ability. wenger's work at arsneal is the bes example of this. he has been keen to emphasise the multi-national nature of his player assembling whilst instilling the english mentality required for playing in the league.

Check his track record. The biggest replacement job was adams for campbell.

Agreed...I wouldn't mind if they were all Canadian either!

We've got a lot of players playing in the Championship this season, not quite ready to take over the EPL.

plenty of good english players out there, just not very good at the flair stuff.need more joe coles etc. but you can see that english youth players are slowly starting to gain these characteristics, england however is a long way behind other countries due to bad managers and the slow death of the lumpy long ball game.
