People don't fully appreciate how important it is for us that we have someone who's comfortable with the ball at his feet and able to pick out passes. People more focused on the fact he didn't throw it in his own net for once so are giving him praise for the bare minimum.

Look he was fine in most aspects but there's a massive drop from what Ramsdale gives us to what Leno gives us. And it's an important part of the way we play. Against Villa it's alright but against better sides constantly giving away the ball puts us under serious pressure.

I did see Leno drop a sweet 60 yard pass onto the foot of Tierney yesterday. He’s not a completely rubbish passer as some people will make out, but obviously not as good as Ramsdale at it.

He will have a key role to play over the next few weeks when Ramsdale is out.

He did well enough yesterday but the unease in passing out from the back when he's there remains and it does hurt our buildup a bit. There's also no disputing that it's him because both Martinez and Ramsdale have managed to inspire much more confidence building up with largely the same players. That said, he's a very good backup and you just have to hope he can keep the mistakes to a minimum until Ramsdale is fit. We could certainly be in worse hands.

The English codified the rules of football just as the French perfected wine. We don't often ask an English person to come over to make Bordeaux.
