He has a year left on his contract and is out to October/November, still recovering after knee surgery earlier in the year, so that might explain the crazily low fee (lest we forget he's still currently the most expensive GK signing in Great Britain at £9m). Wenger has praised him previously and he's proven in the Premier League and has 40 caps for Scotland. If the fee mentioned is even remotely accurate it would be a real bargain, and a very good signing.

After all his injury problems, and with Sunderland not prepared to offer him a new contract he'd surely jump at the chance to sign for Arsenal, even in a squad role.

It'd give him a chance to try and regain his form and push for a starting place at one of the biggest clubs in Europe without any pressure.

Wouldn't mind having him in the squad, offering a bit of added competition and a bit of experience if ever called upon.

As a 30y old, he extend it in 2008 for several years which is already a miracle, knowing Wengers 30y+ policy, but I don't quite know for how long.

Do not want, we have two solid goalkeepers one is looking to be world class in a few years.

GK is the last position we need strengthening, the funny thing is, it was the opposite last summer, how things change eh?

Is that policy valid with keepers? logically shouldn't, and our last signed keeper was 40+.

How come they didn't put Almunia on e-bay with denilson? :)
