The Arsenal I love has fallen

Every matchday is now more about soul searching than enjoyment

Yeah we know...arent you the the fella that posted Partey was having a poor game in yesterday’s match thread?

Maybe just call it quits.

To be assigned the shirt #67, apparently. Requested #10 but it cannot be changed during the season as per league rules.

Before it happens and everyone here is mindboggled about it, 67 is the plate number of the city of Zonguldak, which is where Özil's grandparents are from, and it's popular among Turkish footballers to pick the plate number of their city of birth as their squad number.

Stop spreading Fake news.

His lover Erdogan is 67 in a couple of weeks and he has chosen this number in honour of him.

Wonder if anything will come out of the Ornstein Q&A on the athletic about it.

Would be very interested in knowing how much we've paid him off to terminate the contract.

among other gems in the Independent article, it seems Mustafi's father is part of Özil's entourage, which explains that ghastly tweet of yesterday

The truth is often ghastly, always unpleasant, to those who deny it.

Don't think we gonna learn something new the next days / weeks. Both sides will have an NDA to sweep each side's dirt under the rug. As long as there is no leak from a third party.

This Özil witch hunt is disgusting. People on here need to get a grip ffs.

Just saw this too:

Absolutely laughable how they’re talking about Özil especially that dirty rent boy who made that comment about the last game people remember was Germany in 2010.

Özil has bullied Chelsea many times over the years.

Pretty incredible how Özil gets even fans of other teams arguing, he really is an epitome of the modern social media culture wars.

Of course it will be missed, the lack of Özil has lobotomized Arsenal and its fans to the extent now they wholeheartedly think any player that happens to make a pass forward must be world class

Özil leaving successfully completes our transition to being a midtable team

Özil has won us more games with his genius than he's cost is with his laziness

I wish him well and let's move on ..

We have young guys that will go on to be world class and the future will be bright

Good luck Özil

Don’t disagree with this actually, but he came in around the time Adidas deals started meaning Arsène’s period of stadium transition was mostly up and the idea was to get from top 4 to winning major trophies. Looking back we can say expectations were too high but this is the vision Arsène sold to the board and fans. That’s where the problem for Özil comes in also, in terms of matches against City, United, Chelsea (and Liverpool), etc. Smaller details matter in these matches also.

Arsenal Quotes

"Surely what will be their last attack.

A good ball by Dixon, finding Smith for Thomas, charging through the midfield... It's up for grabs now! Thomas! Right at the end!

What an unbelievable climax to the League season"

Brian Moore on the Thomas' winning goal at Anfield in 1989
