Newcastle are also Geordies (the fans) and Toons...never understood the 'Toon Army' thing myself, the origins must be rooted deep in the annals of history.

i know why newcastle's called the toon, as my mum comes from there. it is actually the town army, but because of the way geordies talk, they say toon. so, it's toon army!
