Almunia 7 - A good save in the second half from Downing and was faultless for the goal. Still not dominant in his box but not to blame today.

Sagna 6 - Meh. Not one of his better days in an inconsistent season.
Gallas 6 - Would want to see it again but it looked like he let Ali past him for the goal. Did nothing wrong after that.
Djourou 7 - Our best defender today.
Clichy 4 - His worst game in a long, long time. One blistering second half run aside he was poor in defence and attack.

Denilson 4 - Good on the wing against Wigan, terrible today. On the statistics front he might have had the highest succesful passing % in the side today but at most 3 of those passes were forward in attacking positions.
Song 6 - Defended well, still makes mistakes and passes poorly.
Fabregas 9 - Deserves better.
Diaby 6 - With the talent he has we really should be expecting more by now. Although once again was not played in his best position.

Adebayor 8 - Continued his good form with a goal. Caused Boro no end of problems afterwards.
Van Persie 5 - Missed our two best chances to win it.

Middlesbrough Vs Arsenal - Player Ratings

Almunia - 7. Didn't have much to do but make a couple of saves and commanded his box well. Distribution at end was ridiculous though.

Sagna - 7. Looks a little sluggish, but handled the dangerous Downing well, with little support.

Gallas - 7. Few minor errors, but played second fiddle to Djourou well.

Djourou - 8. Our best defender. Commanded his team mates. Won every footrace and was strong in the tackle.

Clichy - 6. Couple of dodgy moments. Produced some great tackles and runs throughout.

Denilson - 6. Keeps it simple.....And thats the problem.

Fabregas - 7. Was incrdible in the first half, however lack of support meant he could impact things how he can. Second half he got dragged down a little.

Song - 7. Very good. Very strong, won every header, and some good energy. His distribution can be good at times, but very poor at other times. The point is in a team functioning properly he would only ever have to play short, unimaginative (Denilson) passes.

Diaby - 6. Was horrible in the first half. Then had a spell in the second when he did quite well. He has no future at Arsenal.

Van Persie - 5. Has moments of brilliance, for instance he played a beautiful outside of the foot pass to Denilson on the right flank. But what did he actually do? He is supposed to be linking our midfield and attack and he isn't doing that. He is one of the major reasons our attacks are fluid and we are struggling to create chances.

Adebayor - 7. Scored a good header, worked hard. The problem is like Song, in a team functioning properly he doesn't have to create or be a 'passmaster' he just need to be the beneficiary of others creativity by making good runs.

Subs

Bendtner - 6. Had a couple of chances and never looked like taking them.

Yeah thats right i gave Cesc a 9, he deserves it for having to carry this **** midfield, he is the only thing stopping us from being a mid-table team.

Al-6.5-some good work and one great save
Sagna-7- thought he was good
Galas-7- good
Djourou-7.5- good, our CBs must be him+1
Clichy-5.5- some good stuff but more rubbish stuff, bad touches and passes, lots of wrong crossing decisions, nearly gave away a penalty
Denilson-6- I cant fault his workrate- he doesn’t have anything in his skillset that allows him to beat players so struggles to be effective
Fabregas-7.5- did a lot of good work
Song-6- held well but doesn’t offer anything in possession other than a sideways pass to cesc
Diaby-4- sick of him really, wasn’t that bad today but always makes the wrong decisions
Vanpersie-3- sometimes he doesn’t look like a football player
Ade-7.5- thought he was good today, worked really hard, held the ball up well, kept possession and started soem good moves....and scored.
Bendtner-5- contributed a bit, but to be fair to him he wasn’t given time

I dotn understand- when we’re trying to grab a goal- Arsène sees fit to keep song and denilson on the pitch, and a misfiring robin, when we had 2 strikers, 2 attacking midfielders, and an arttacking fullback on the bench- what is the point in having a bench that you are afraid to use unless the game is already won- Arsène has no confidence in these players. THe only change he makes, is with 8 minutes left, and it was the most out-of-form player in our squad.
This is another oen that must go down as a wenger error. Mind you, a draw away at the riverside would usually be a decent result most seasons- it’s only cos we’ve effed up so many times already that it is as bad as it is.

Our new aim this season, even if we get reinforcements in jan: scrape 4th place and then write it off....a bit like the last one, and the one before that...and........

9 for Fabregas. Ricky your ratings are overall way too high.

Sagna 5

Watching Denilson and RVP, I swear they're having some kind of season long competition to see who can spend the most time on their respective arse.

Re: Middlesbrough Vs Arsenal - Player Ratings

Almunia 7 Decent

Sagna 6 - Done well, although didnt seem 100% fit
Gallas 6 - ok, bit shaky
Djourou 7 - played well. should be 1st choice from now on
Clichy 4 - too many mistakes, find it difficult too concentrate for 90 min

Denilson 5 - 7 for effort but not a winger, very little attack threat
Song 6.5 - Done ok, passing was poor at times but defended well. Wanted him to partner cesc for a long time now, hopefully that's the end of the cesc/denilson partnership
Fabregas 8 - Best player but our only creative player tonight
Diaby 5 - average in everything

Adebayor 7.5 - Scored, worked hard all game
Van Persie 5 - Good play, poor finishing (Q people calling for his head after sucking his **** after the Chelsea match)

Re: Middlesbrough Vs Arsenal - Player Ratings

Almunia: 7 - Great save again
Sagna: 5 - Mediocre defensively, but worked better in midfield than any of the real midfielders except for Song
Gallas: 5 - Looked completely off. Bad marking on Aliadiere.
Djourou: 7 - Didn't mess up anything. Looks very secure.
Clichy: 5 - Has to take responsibility for their goal
Song: 7 - Not a great fan of Song but he's really uped his game lately
Cesc: 7 - Good vision, much better movement today. Misplaces too many balls though.
Diaby: 6 - Creative enough offensively, not good enough defensively
Denilson: 5 - Worked hard but it counted for very little today.
van Persie: 3 - Horrible finish. It's frustrating that he's got enough brain and vision to read the game and put himself at the end of the attacks but can't even time his run to put the ball in an empty net from five yards when the situation arises.
Adebayor: 7 - Good movement, good vision and very good passes. Should have had both a goal and an assist today.

Arsenal Quotes

I believe the target of anything in life should be to do it so well that it becomes an art.
When you read some books they are fantastic, the writer touches something in you that you know you would not have brought out of yourself. He makes you discover something interesting in your life.
If you are living like an animal, what is the point of living? What makes daily life interesting is that we try to transform it to something that is close to art. And football is like that.
