The initial excitement of seeing this bumped fades when you read it's a Turkish link :(

I don't think he will actually leave, but if he did: would people be happy going into the season with Sokratis, Chambers, Holding and Mavropanos as our available centre-backs?

I don't think I'd mind a Sokratis-Chambers partnership and it'd be fun to see the young ones play, but depth-wise it could really backfire on us.

Having said that, unless Mustafi really picks up his form this season, it's hard to argue that we lose anything by him leaving. Don't *think* it'll be happen though.

A lot of the foreign clubs are probably waiting until after August 9 to sign players from English clubs, because they know we'll have to compromise on the fee or risk having the likes of Lucas Perez sitting around unregistered taking home £40k a week for nothing.

It depends on if the club wants to sell the player. There was a theory that English clubs could charge more after the window shuts - they could simply say "well we can't buy anyone, so if we sell to you you're going to have to pay us a lot". That applies if the club doesn't want to sell, like Hazard and Chelsea. As for us and Perez, it's a disadvantage. They can just say "this is our offer, either you accept or you're stuck with him".

The early window isn't a problem in theory, it's just the unaligned windows across Europe that are the problem.

Why tho I dont understand, wouldnt that make it harder to sign players from bpl clubs
Think they have their eye on Tibo & Hazard who have 11 & 23 months on deals. Also then a 21 day opportunity to deal with the other European clubs without English money.

PL ****ed up a bit.

Disagree. PL are doing the right thing.

Less scope for transfers than the big foreign clubs but the football will be better for it which is what really matters. Focus on the football 'product' rather than catering for the elite clubs is what has made the league so special.

There is some truth to this, but as one of those 'elite clubs', at least by financial measures, it hurts AFC more than it helps.
