Your Favorite Midfield Ever?

What do you guys think.

Notable midfields that deserve to be there are;

United 1999
Giggs Keane Scholes Beckham

Arsenal 04
Pires Vieira Gilberto Ljungberg

Brazil 70
Rivelino Gérson Clodoaldo Jarzinho

Lazio 00 (always like these 4)
Nedved Veron Simeone Stankovic

Spain 08
Senna Iniesta Xavi Silva Fabregas

France 98
Zidane Petit Deschamps Karembeu

Personally I'd like to think of the Arsenal midfield as the best ever, but i'm moddest, and have to give it to United 98-99. As close as perfection as I've ever seen.

With them four you get the magic, the accuracy, the skill, the delivery, the work rate..... everything.

Spain 08 over the United one, definately. Barca last season was awesome, particularly with Messi dropping in at the top.

Loved Milan in the early 1990s too. Their midfield in 91/92 was awesome as was the team in 93/94 that won the CL (Boban-Desailly-Albertini-Donadoni).

Huh! Celades only retired like a couple of months ago. I thought he was older than 34.

I also liked the Czech Republic midfield of a few years ago, the EURO 2004 generation. Galasek, Rosicky, Nedved and Poborsky. Lovely.

Young'n in his Barca days. Wasn't sure whether or not to include him as he'd play in the deep lying central role and at times as a sweeper when in need. Not many people know him let alone remember him.

Lazio's midfield in '00 wass almost as cool as our invincibles. Veron was out of this world when he played there. Lucky us that he didn't succeed in England. Later they got Mendieta to replace him and what a player he was as well when he led Valencia to 2 CL finals in a row but we all know how his career panned out. Simeone was the battler, the dirty player who broke up the opposition's play while Nedved and Stankovic provided a great goal threat.

Difficult to name the best midfield but ours are definitely worthy contenders.

Platini Tigana Giress and Fernandez.
That was a hell of a midfield.

You could also argue for Parlour Vieira Petit Overmars...its a real pity we could have had it Pires Vieira Petit Overmars..what a brilliant midfield that could have been.

The Spanish midfield from 08 wins in my opinion. Any team that can afford to leave out Fabregas and Alonso is world class without doubt.

S'what I'm talkin' about. Parlour on the right and Overmars on the left. Like I said in the lobby, Zidane--Makelele--Vieira--Pires.

Would like to have been around in the 70's to have seen the Brazil midfields.

Was Overmars, Cocu, Davids and one of the De Boers ever a midfield?

The Carre Magique. 8)) I was planning on writing an article about them.

Brazil 1982 midfield was brilliant aswell, Cerezo, Falcao, Socrates and Zico.

1958 and 1962 consecutive World Cup winning midfield of Brazil is most probably the best though. Didi, Zito, Zagallo and Garrincha.

Arsenal 1998's midfield was as good as the Invincibles version. Vieira and Petit in the middle? Unstoppable.

Ajax 1995 was up there. Davids, Seedorf, Overmars and (I think) R. de Boer.

My vote would have to go to Man U 1999. It ticked every box.

Ajax '95 was anchored by Rijkaard. De Boer was a forward in that team.

It also depends on which games are being referred to. Van Gaal frequented between the 4-3-3 and 3-4-3 throughout the season and Litmanen and Finidi George were also major midfield fixtures.

Juve's midfield in the 90s and united's midfield in the 2006-2007 season, arguebly its better than the midfield of the treble winning side.
