There was over the years a few players at AL-Ahly in Egypt that were definitely good enough to have made an impact in Europe, but there seems to be a real cult of club heros opting to stay and become legends there rather than cross over into Europe.

There was 100% a Mohamed Aboutrika that at one stage was linked to a lot of the major european clubs, but he never left.

Wasn't Aboutrika a midfielder though, don't remember him being a striker

Poachers from somewhat underdog La Liga teams always worry me a bit, same goes for Serie A, they score **** loads in these leagues but they seem like perfect scenario type players, on the end of everything and on hot streaks but when they get big moves and things change they cant replicate the form.
