I really like that low, driven with power, accross the goal shot that he does.

I also thought his off the pitch chemistry with Jenko really showed on it. He knew where he was going to be, and made some clever plays with him.

i liked this upload, doesn't drown out the commentary.

Jenkinson's position for his chance was similar to the sort of position Bellerin gets into for us frequently.

Definitely a tactical tweak.

I couldn't watch the game, but from the arsenalist highlights of our Reading win, Ox seems to have wasted so many good chances, despite scoring a brace.

How was he, does he look like improving as he's not near to first XI, or he still have decision-making issues in game ?
Personally this is the danger of stop start. He played well against Swansea and then in the CL only to be benched. He should have started against Middlesbrough as a reward for playing well. That's the best way to improve.

I dont think a player can find consistency in any area without a clear run of games. Just seems hard for Ox to nail down a starting spot to iron out those flaws. It's one reason I'm glad Wilshere is on loan otherwise he'd be in the same boat.

I have a similar opinion.

Iwobi hasn't been too good lately and Wenger could probably give Ox more playing time. But this would mean shifting Alexis on left or sacrificing Theo on the right, who are both of very good form.

Ox has to grab the chances he gets and show his true worth. It seemed like last night he was trying way too hard and ended up making many wrong decisions.

The Ox can actually be very effective on the left too. I remember that game vs. Man Utd where JVP was angry at Wenger for taking him off, he was playing on the left there.

Sometimes I wonder why we don't play him there more often.

It's hard at large clubs. that's why so many of our players find their feet at other smaller clubs . in fact, Arsène had got softer i think after the stadium move. Even Reyes couldn't get in our starting 11 in the years before.

Oxlade is getting a lot more chances than others, and he has undoubdted potential.

I think it's not a case that he got softer just that he didn't have much choice. We couldn't pay for elite proven talent and had to rely on young up and coming talent. We're in an awkward phase. Previously young players would have been much closer to the first team, now we're able to go buy Alexis, Özil Xhaka, Perez, Mustafi etc and guys like the Ox, Holding, Maitland-Niles, Jeff are further down the pecking order. There will always be exceptions like Bellerin and Iwobi but that's more to do with them making it be that way rather than being there by default.

Keown:

*What's been the secret to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's return to form? Brian in Luton

I would suggest that Jack Wilshere going on loan to Bournemouth has spurred on both Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott.

What Arsène Wenger did in letting Jack go was very healthy - it allowed Alex and Theo to have a good look at themselves. They will have thought that they needed to start performing or they wouldn't be at the club, either.

That one decision has had a positive impact on three players and maybe the decision to sent Jack out on loan was taken with the bigger picture in mind.

It has certainly made Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain more focused.*

I don't know if Keown's opinion is opportunistic as both are playing much better that the disaster of last season, but Wilshere on loan to B'mouth seems like a not too wise of an idea. I am sue many better PL clubs would have taken him if he was made available earlier than last day.

It wasn't about getting Jack to the best club we could though. It was about getting him game time, and the decision to send him to B'mouth was obviously the right choice on that score, because he's playing every week and he's still injury free with November almost upon us.

He's slowly getting into a little bit of form. Still telegraphing some passes but he's playing quick, and keeping it relatively simple when he needs to.

Still not quite at the level he could be at, but given that he has good competition in Iwobi and still able to get minutes here and there, he can easily get back towards a good level.

I feel he has been playing very well , he's a risk taking player so there will always be mistakes but his quality of his work is certainly improving , although his crosses **** me .

Ox works better with low whipped crosses. When he tries to float them into the box he has too much power and it just looks so... terrible.

He's trying to get pace and movement into the cross . He's too worried about aesthetics just get it into a spot consistently and give them a chance .

Exactly, Keown is building a narrative to fit the facts. Anything to explain the stupidity of letting Jack go on loan. Walcott was training on strength building from the summer - long before Jack left. And Chambo is probably reacting to losing his place to Iwobi, don't think he's so weak to give his place up without a fight.

****ing shocking today, assist aside did little to nothing right. It's awful for me personally when I champion for him to start then he pops up with a very, very 'typical' Ox performance. It's all well and good him saying he wants to play more, but days like today he has to make his mark.

Great cross for our opener, nothing of note after that bar a tackle on Khazri. Has the composure of a Male pornstar in his first audition. Unless he starts imposing himself on games more he'll be a bit-part player for life.

Another game and another productive moment. Great assist for Alexis! Quietly having a good season. 5 goals and 3 assists now. General play isn't great but as long as he keeps producing and working hard, I'm sufficiently satisfied.

A lot of posters will probably disagree with me, but I think Ox had a good game today. He could have had two assists and he should have scored but still. There's a place for him, and I think this afternoon was another positive for him building momentum. Should start against Ludo!
